T-K-C Custom Becker Handles

Those look very good! TKC makes some great scales and I think I'll need a set before too long. Yeah, they are pricey, but knowing the quality of the esee ones, I'm sure these are no different.

Saw these earlier today. I have a couple of the G10 sets for my ESEE Izula. They're well made...can't say that they're not. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have bought them though.

Price is just way too high for what they are when there's a factory micarta option at about $25 less and the stock grivory is just fine. Don't get me wrong G10 is nice and I understand people love options, but a price point of $65 is just too high even for G10.

they look to have a modified profile that would add a LOT of comfort, but that's a lot of $$.
I had Dale scales on my ESEE 4 and they were a game changer -- if the BK16 had never come out, I'd still own the ESEE.

I hope they make tweener scales in the near future. I'd splurge for some green ones for sure. I like the micarta for my bigger knives tho....but we'll see. Orange on a bk9 would sing!

I like the look of those, maybe sometime in the future. My Micarta grips are doing fine for now.

Maybe it's just me but they look kinda weird, kinda like a ESEE/Becker style combo unlike the original scales. I agree with some people that the asking price is a decent amount of $$ espcially given that G-10 isn't to expensive and these are CNC machined. Hope to see a review if someone gets these though...

I thought they looked a little 'off' in shape as well which isn't a bad thing if its intended to improve the grip in some way. Also there are only 2 hex holes and it looks like there is a threaded tune implanted in the middle for some hex bolts. Hmm...

What middle bit? Sorry man, don't really get what your saying. My guess about the different handle contours is to avoid any patent issues...If I remember correctly even Saints contours their handles slightly different from the originals.

I guess I just ment to say the bolts look the same on both sides like they fasten into a threaded tube mounted in holes of the tang.

I think its actually round allen heads on both sides, one with a bolt attached one thats the "Nut"

Oh right. Yeah, ESEEs and these scales use 2 flat allen screws with a connector piece in the middle.

I was thinking about trying to do that on a custom pair I'm making right now. Maybe easier then cutting out the hex holes with my dremel

Dale Stoops, the owner of TKC, sent me an email telling me about these becoming available. That's customer service, considering I emailed him about these scales months ago.

I can't believe they got them out so quickly. It's been what, five months since the G-10 Becker Scale thread we had here? I was expecting it to take a lot longer, if they made them at all.

I decided to order a set of the orange and black tiger stripe scales for my BK-5. I'll be getting more for my 9, 7, and 10.

They look great. TKC's Esee scales are well-regarded by Esee fans, so I'm sure I'll like these. I'll be sure to post up some pics when I get them.

BTW, Dale said that the next scales they're going to offer are BK-14 scales, so you won't have to mod the Izula scales to fit the 14.

nice! I'd grab up a set for my 24 in a heartbeat. Hopefully tweener scales will follow.

Am I alone on this one by saying if it aint broke dont fix it? The ESEE scales are different IMO because there was a demand for it, a lot of people agreed that their scales are too flat. The Becker scales are already contoured and well... perfect. This is purely a color thing, Ill pass... for now... probably...

Thanks everyone for the comments and interest!

I have been thinking about doing handles for the Becker line for some time and there has been quite a bit of interest recently so I decided now was the time.

I would like to address some of the comments. Yes, they are not cheap and I realize that they are not for everybody but if you compare them to some others on the market that are much smaller, you will find that they are not that bad when you consider what you are getting. I can't go into all of the technical aspects of designing and manufacturing the handles but I will tell you that there is a lot more involved than "meets the eye". Someone made reference to the cost of the G10. The machining costs are the largest part of the overall cost to produce them. CNC operators are skilled tradesmen and get paid well for their work and then there is the cost of the actual running of the machine.

There are 6 main features that we achieved for the BK2-10 series handles that I feel takes a great knife and makes it a super knife. 1. A sleeker profile while still providing prominent contours to accommodate a firm and comfortable grip. 2. A textured finish to make the knife easier to hold onto especially when wet or bloody. 3. No holes on the sides to produce hot spots. 4 Higher durability. 5. A big "cool" factor with the various colors that are available. 6. The BK2 knife with our custom handles will work the ESEE 5 sheath. This opens up a whole new area of possibilities for carry options!

Another neat thing that will give you more options is that the ESSE 5/6 MOLLE back and pouches will work with the BK2 sheath!

We just posted picture installation instructions on each item page which should clear up how they are fastened onto the blade.

Next up will be scales for the BK14 and 24. We will be doing them for the other models as well.

I also wanted to mention that I have had discussions with the good people at Ka-Bar about this project and they have been great to work with. Thanks Joe!

Sweet! I've got Dale's custom scales on a couple of ESEEs, looks like at least one of my Beckers will get an upgrade in the future.
