T.R.E. Three Rapid Exchange LionSTEEL

Is there any real benefit to pre-ordering one of these bad boys? I'm having a tough time deciding between CF, Ti w/ blue, and orange g10. My gut tells me I'm better off waiting for pics to start rolling in.

Ive have both pre-ordered with LionSteel, and bought from dealers. I have never seen a difference from lionSteels photos, and the actual knife. What you see is what you get. These pictures arent computer concepts, but the actual knives being produced. Pre-order just ensures you get the exact knife you are looking to get, and not having to worry about there being a high demand on the one you like, and not being able to get it later, or at an inflated price. We have all seen knives like the ZT777 being sold in the thousands of dollars when it only cost a few hundred. just my 2 cents.

Oh, I have no doubt that LS provides accurate pics of the knives in question, but it's always nice to see pictures taken outside of a studio environment, from different angles, etc to get an idea of what you're looking at.
High demand and knives selling out is definitely a consideration. This knife seems to have some hype building behind it, but do you guys who've been around a while know if that's something that happens with LionSteels? ZT seems to have its own crazy cult following, especially with their limited releases...in my own limited experience that seems pretty unique to ZT, at least among production makers, but I could very well be mistaken.

The only real consideration is likely timing. With the SR2, it took a month after preorder delivery before US dealers got the knife. Therefore preorder means you don't have to look at everyone else post pics for a month.

Direct preorders with LionSteel get their TRE folders first and it looks like that'll be first half of May 2015. If I recall correctly, they're sent out FedEx Express.

Interesting. As much as I want to, I think it makes more sense to wait. Especially since I (sort of) accidentally bought a new watch today, am on the hunt for an Alan Davis custom, AND am moving in the middle of May. Oh well, I'll have to drool at your guys' pics for a while but that give me time to figure out what I want.

Looking forward to the first half of May.

Does anyone know if any will be available at Blade Show in Atlanta?

I'm quite sure they will. Last I checked with Gianni preorders are due to ship by the middle of May 2015 which is three weeks before the 2015 Blade Show.

Guessing between the 18th and 25th. I ordered mine on 4/8 and think it was 45 days out from then.

I also preordered on April 8th. Right now it says 25 days so it could be end of May instead of mid May!

I asked when these would b available in the U.S.

here's the reply:
Not before end of May.
We are in a little delay, sorry

Best Regards
Gianni Pauletta

I didn't ask about preorders. My actual question was "when will these knives be available to buy in the US." It appears by their reply that we should be able to buy them out right. I could be mistaken. I hope I'm not mistaken. These are very cool looking knives. If they work half as well as they look they will be a fabulous EDC.
