Okay fellas, John Hollister gave you hints of the coming details, and here they are; After tossing an idea at John and acting upon his positive reaction, I've developed a ClubHouse of sorts for us. Yes, the Emerson Forum is our home, but John and I thought that it might be fun to organize live chats in real time, with a fast user-friendly interface.
I've designed an extension of one of my websites, called "Brighter Edge Tactical" or simply "BET" for short. BET is going to be a collaboration of many things, but essentially it's going to be an online Tactical Knives and Tactical Flashlights magazine. There will be reviews of products, latest news, galleries,and hopefully alot of participation from the Suspects, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc,.. but for now let's just focus on our "Tac-chat".
Go here www.betactical.com to look at the intro page, and find your way to the Tac-chatroom (not difficult since the site is still a fledgling). Read the instructions, and you're in.
Any and all "Usual Suspects" are welcome to use this chatroom at any time, but whenever we have scheduled events/topics, John Hollister will serve as your friendly moderator. I hope. John is best qualified for this role, and I have alot of website designing to do, although I will certainly participate in any chats that John schedules. So how about it, John? When's the first "Usual Suspect Live Chat"??
BTW, this is a very secure chatroom. I will always have one or two bots holding the channel for us, and these bots can easily kick or ban any riff-raff/troublemakers that might somehow fall into the channel. This chatroom will be a nice place for all of us to get to know each other better, and a great way for us to share blade-info. I hope all of you give this idea a chance. It'll be alot of fun!

When would be good for out first . . . . "meeting"? Probably should be in the evening, perhaps Saturday?

Any feedback? (Let's make all suggestions in Eastern Standard Time to keep down on the confusion)

Just one stupid question, what state does Eastern Time cover so I can work out the time difference ?

Well, Eastern time covers the whole East Coast. So, a good reference would be Boston, or NYC.

John - sorry I miised you! I was on kinda late (midnight). I met Eric though.

Here is a link that will tell you the time in Eastern Standard Time. You can compare that time to your local time to calculate when we are talking about.

We have recieved no suggestions as to a date and time for our first offical group chat. Sound off guys.

BTW, today I secured the domain www.betactical.com
and will be moving the Brighter Edge Tactical site and chatroom there in a few days. I'll post the info here just as soon as I get around to moving everything.

Tonight we had an informal chat, just as we did last night. It's cool. All of a sudden 4-5 guys just start popping in.
Let's hope that many of us can make it to the first "scheduled" Tac-chat, which is Saturday, Jan 6th @ 10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.

Yeah, but ya'll should have been there last night!

Just went in to check my settings to be sure everything was working and found that there were about 4 of us doing the same thing. Next thing I knew about a hour had passed already!

Today I moved the "Tac-chat" to its new permanent home at my new domain, which is www.betactical.com , and everything is all set up for the first official chat tonight (Saturday) at 10:00pm Eastern Standard Time. The previous link to Tac-chat will no longer work, so please update your bookmarks. I went back and edited my posts in this thread to reflect the new domain/URL. Try to make the chat tonight, guys. It's alot of fun.
Hey 2Sharp,...I haven't heard of anyone else having problems, and you should be able to access it from anywhere in the world. Are you using your "2Sharp" name? That should work fine. Any name will work as long as it's not over 9 characters long. This Tac-chat is best when viewed with Internet Explorer 4.0 or above. It works with NetScrape also, but the quality isn't as good as with IE.
You can also use any decent IRC (Internet Relay Chat)client. I recommend going to www.mirc.com and downloading their client. It's free and works great. Once you install MIRC, you can find our chat by logging onto the following:
/server irc.webair.com
and then type this to join our channel
/j #betactical

There were 12 of us who showed up for the chat tonight, and I believe that a good time was had by all. Hopefully interest in these chats will make them a regular thing. Thanks to all who participated, and for those of you who couldn't make it please try to join us next time because we'd really enjoy meeting everyone.
