Thanks for the link makandr we discussed this subject once before in Bernard's forum. These shovels are carried in many car's in Russia like we carry baseball bat's in the U.S. I think you mentioned that they now make a model made from armoured steel . I still see Russian troops carrying shovels other countries not so much anymore.

You have an awesome collection I am sure I told you that before. I too collect old tools they don't make them like they used to. I looked on the bay for issue shovels the Titanium ones are very expensive.
 
Good question ... here's the knife which my team has developed for the special forces of the Russian army and the FSB, I think this is a very comfortable handle. This knife has very tough test in a special unit of the FSB, including non-recourse throwing 6 meters so the handle is smooth on the sides at their request. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1TAHHge9NY
