tactical pants recommendation

Check out the company Outlier. Expensive but made in America. They also look good whether worn with a jacket and tie or under a rucksack in a patrol base.

I only put on the tactical pants when I have to, but I've found that my cut-off multicam shorts are just as comfy, with more pockets than anyone really needs. I might end up doing the stereotypical veteran deal and switch from my blue jeans to some 5.11 or Condor stuff, but I haven't got there yet.

recently i got two pair of Belleville boots , JDB & ICWB , both are well made , very cool.
both Bellevilles are better than my Russain mili boots , your American rock.

I have a couple pairs of 5.11 Taclite shorts and pants too they are great....hold up really well and are super comfy...fit is right

Have been wearing the 5.11 Kodiak pants for a few months now, and damned if they aren't comfortable as all get out, and well made. I haven't been wearing the Taclite pants much, as I didn't like the feel of the fabric during the winter, though they're light enough to warrant winter wear.

Me personally I've had nothing but issues out of 5.11. Same size but one is tight one is loose, one has longer length , etc. their QC is pretty bad.

I would go with Crye personally. Good quality but a little more expensive.

I have been very satisfied with the Duluth Trading company firehose cargo pants. A great heavy duty camping or work pant.

We had a talk about this last week at work. After viewing all the Wazzoo pants at SHOT and looking at pricing, we couldn't figure out why someone would spend $175-$300 on a pair of pants they were likely going to beat the crap out of and possibly destroy on one trip (depending on the activity), when you could get a pair of low budget "tactical" or cargo style pants for $29-$39 that will hold up indefinitely for day to day wear and will likely hold together long enough to get through whatever event you'd be dressed for in those pants. If you did tear or damage the pants, you'd be out $30 maybe. It's kinda like spending $3K for a custom 1911, when a stock Glock will do aaaand that's a lot of training and ammo funds saved. I think back to the events in "13hours" when Tanto fought the first engagement in shorts and flip flops. His pants didn't make an ounce of difference in the fight (other than some ribbing from his team-mates)(He probably would have liked to have been wearing some other footwear though).

It's nice to buy quality gear and toys (heck we're on the Busse forum for crying out loud), but sometimes it makes more sense to be frugal in some of our gear purchases. If you're going into situations on a regular basis where $300 pants would be a benefit to you, go for it, but most of us don't "need" that expense to get us through out day to day activities. The money would be better spent on training and INFI.;)

As I am not a "tactical operator", nor am I likely to become on due to my advanced age, I have no need of tactical pants at all. Nonetheless, I love cargo pants and I own a great many pairs of such pants from 5.11 (full cotton canvas, full nylon oxford cloth and tac-lite) Spec-Ops, True Spec, Propper, Wrangler and less well known brands. Currently my favorite pants, from both a utility and cost perspective, are the LA Police Gear Operator Tactical Pants with Elastic Waistband. Plenty of pockets, fit as ordered, multiple colors, ripstop 60/40 nylon/cotton, built in blousing ties, etc. At $20 a pair, they're hard to beat.

I'm with Adian on this issue in my experience 5.11 pants have sucked, I have had one pair of the tac lite pro shorts that were OK but still not cut well in my opinion. Very baggy here and there. Triple Aught Design might be expensive but I have numerous pairs of shorts, pants, and even a few jackets from them and have yet to wear any out after daily use for several years now. American made and sizes are cut/measured perfectly.

Oh yea I forgot about TAD. They make great stuff too. Love my Shagmaster!

I wear these for work everyday, I alternate between two pairs, holding up great, I used to go through jeans in a month. Duluth are more comfortable too!
