"Tactical" styled knife

ZT 0400 is just what you are looking for....but they are discontinued. Can still be had for about $150.

Any opinions on the 0700 vs the 0350?

I'm amazed no one has suggested the 0700 yet. That's the knife I was thinking of when reading your requirements (minus spring assist if I recall correctly). I can't shed light on either though. Best of luck in your search.

The cold steel spartan is big and heavy. Its doesnt have a spring but it has a thumb plate that acts like an emerson wave

Check out Smith and Wesson knives. Right up your alley. They'll scare little girls too. ;)

There you go again with a pointless snide comment. The OP is looking for help, not some frat boy BS. Also a new member and we are supposed to be welcoming. You and Knifein made BF look goofy in this thread. You had your fun?

Here are some pics of emersons and a spyderco delicia Wave, if you want a fast opening knife the wave cant be beat in my book!

I looked at the Emersons. Very nice but they do have a heavy price tag.

Any opinion on schrade? I have seen reviews on their fixed blades but not their folders.

I'm gonna say a Benchmade Mini Barrage 586 with m390 steel blade but not Tanto.

Or

A Benchmade Mini Barrage Warn version which had a Tanto blade and D2 steel. It is discontinued but you should be able to find one on a very large auction site.

There is a full size Warn Barrage, 583 I believe.

I have 4 Tanto knives. Most of my knives have black blades. And partially serrated blades.

I go against the grain here. I actually use serrations. I like coated blades. I find Tantos cut just fine. I like the two flat surfaces.

I use the serrations too. Was out fishing and wanted a poke to fish for bluegill while my other was in for catfish. Sawed off a limb and made me a cane pole. Harder to sharpen but doesn't matter too too much for me. I will take that bit of bothersome.

For ZT I would def look at the 0350 for the price.

Granted its not a Tanto blade but its amazing in every way and the assist is nice and strong.

If not having a Tanto is ok I would also suggest looking at some HTM knives.

They might be a little more than you were looking to spend but the HTM Snap is well worth the money.

It's a Darrel Ralph & Kirby Lambert collaboration and the assist is lightning fast, def take a look.

And like others have mentioned, of course an Emerson is something to highly consider.

There are a few Tanto variations, but I think the Reliant is their best Tanto offering.

It's got a great blade shape and is the perfect EDC size.

Only downside is they don't make any assisted knives.

All in all I think bang for buck you should look at ZT knives first and foremost.

Just my .02

I looked at some of the htm and on their website they are sold out of everything. Don't want to pay $300 for one anyway. Very nice looking knives.

See what the flee market has in stock this weekend. Most of what you are looking for does not have good real world use, more fantasy use.

I have a lot of the features on my current knife and use it all the time.

Can I come to your booth at the flea market?

I think the ZT 0700 would be a good fit. Great tanto blade, super smooth and quick opening, and a surprisingly comfortable handle. Don't need assist with this one.

If you're on a really tight budget since you're saving for your vacation, you might have to compromise a bit on your requirements. For example, Cold Steel offers several knives that fit the "tough tactical folder" bill, but they aren't assisted opening. Some have thumb disks that work just like an Emerson wave, but those models are over your blae length limit and don't have tanto blades.

If you can get past the lack of AO, I think you'd be very happy with a Code 4, Recon 1 or Voyager. All three lines have models with combo edge tanto blades. The blade on the Code 4 is 3 1/2", while the other two have 4" blades. Handle material is aluminum (Code 4), G-10 (Recon-1) and Grivory which is similar to FRN (Voyager). All use the Tri-Ad lock. The Recon 1 is the most expensive of the bunch at around $75, the Code 4 follows at $60 and the Voyager is, in my opinion, quite a bargain at under $50.

I've got a couple of plain edge clip point XL Voyagers, and I'm very happy with them.
