That's pretty tacticlol I think. Certainly the looks were the only reason I ever bought it. Never used it either.
Yep that was the dormant mall ninja again. Tricksy, they are. :D

wow. someone mocks a spyderco and all hell breaks loose. jesus christ fellas. i just read that whole effing thread...

i don't have a knife collection...yet. i have a gerber paraframe. looks nifty. works decent, its not quality by any means but if you work hard enough it'll hack shit up. gonna buy a bm 940 in d2. been reading alot

from what i hear, spydercos are fantastic knives. just amazing. functional, quality, great bang for the buck.

that however doesn't make them any less hideous. flame me if you need some male enhancement or whatever jollies it gets you

the pics posted here are downright priceless. i actually remember wanting the mass effect1 when i saw it in a catalog i was reading on the shitter 8 or so years ago when i was like 12. i remember fantasizing about cutting up bad guys and all this other sh*t lol... i'm sure we all have.

great thread tbh, just some people need to scrape the sand out....

Watch out! I made that observation once...... they still try to kill me when I walk to the mailbox each day. I now am required to wear a Spyderco hat and shirt, as well as a Spyderco thong (which is REALLY uncomfortable) on weekends. If I don't, they'll kidnap my dog..... sigh........:D

BTW, I bought a couple of Spydies in the last few months, and they are great knives. I still think the web like handle and spi(y?)der on the knife 2-3 times makes them look a bit tacticlol. (PLEASE GUYS, I need to get the mail, so please don't take me out at the box! :D )

Oh yeah, I really want a Civilian and a Police. Both overkill for sure, but so cool! Saving my pennies...

lol they have a cult like following i see. i acknowledge that they're quality, and that their aesthetics are functional.... doesn't make them appealing to me

I saw this photo posted up with a story a long time ago.

The story was that a really large guy (in the photo) squared off (so to speak) with a MUCH smaller guy in a fight. The smaller guy pulled a "knife" and the big guy figured that because he was so much larger and stronger he could overcome the smaller guy with brute force.

Apparently the big guy rushed and grabbed the little guy (bear hug) in attempt to get him to take him down and make him submit, and the little guy began aerating his back with the blade.

Self defense? You can call it what you like. If the story I was presented was true, I think it serves to validate the idea that a knife can help an otherwise outclassed combatant defend his life from a much larger enemy.

Honestly, I do not care, and I can not believe I am even posting this...it has NOTHING to do with this threads OP.

The story is BS, as the stories attached to that picture and the others normally posted with it.

Ironically, I think a fair few of them look quite nice. I think the police looks particually elegant (and if I had the cash, would definately get one, if only to keep as an example of elegant engineering)

on the other hand, I think the TOPS M4X punisher is tacticlol, although since it is a movie knife, maybe this is to be expected.

see, and thats fine. you can think that. as far as spyderco's go, i think the police is one of the better ones i have seen

i'm just really not a fan of the spydie hole, and the general blade shape their knives seem to take. i understand it serves a purpose, and from what i've heard it serves it very well.

doesn't mean i like it :D

btw, that knife slashing pic is rather horrifying. i don't ever hope to be in a knife fight. tbh, that picture would be less grotesque if there were blood everywhere.

[shudders]

my knives are for utility, and i will at some point carry a firearm for defense, but i hope i never have to use it. never been one to want to inflict that kind of damage on a person. imaginary things when i was a kid? sure. but not people, and never like that....

Today I came home from a short holiday. The neighbour that fed our cat had also taken my parcel from the postman. In the parcel were a svord peasant and a Kabar USMC in leather sheath. My dear girlfriend (she carries a grasshopper on her keychain and has a serrated bit of steel in the back of the horse cart, so she's a little bit of a knife person) watched me opening the parcel and asked: "Why do you want a black knife?" when the Kabar emerged. "Oh, the black will wear off." I said. "So that means you are actually going to use this thing?" She bloody well knows that my EDC's are a Tenacious or a Vantage Pro and a small folder, and that those knives are are sufficient for my every day needs.
I mumbled something about the Kabar being a classic design. She frowned. I mentioned that the Kabar was the knife of choice in WWII as a utility and tactical knife. She LOL'd and predicted I would probablly never use the Kabar. She might be right, there are other fixed blades I would use and most of the time my folders will be sufficient.
So, for some people even the USMC Kabar is a tacticlol, and I cannot really disagree. It depends on the demands you have for your knives.
I will not include a Kabar picture. Some people on the forum might know what it looks like.

Definitely. I picked up and held a Double Agent at the Cold Steel parking lot sale, and I must admit I felt pretty embarrassed holding it. Everything about it, from its dual-finger rings right down to its name, absolutely screams mall ninja.

The Steel Tiger looks a little silly as well, but it would make a much more functional karambit-style knife than the Double Agent.

I was gifted a Cold Steel Double Agent last year.

Probably the most tacticLOL knife I own, and despite it's mallninja-ness, it's a fun toy. haha. Doesn't see much use at all.

Hey, who WOULDN'T want a knife called a Toucan!! :D:D:D

I actually own one of those, picked it up for 3 bucks. I wish I could say it is a great knife but reality demands honesty. That blade will fall open if you look at it wrong, 440ish steel, it is a dust collector.

Betcha never saw one of these ! 2 individual blades with 2 liner locks. Can you make me a sheath for this one Paul??:D
