Tad Gear Stealth Softshell Jacket?

Guys, one thing I don't understand is how the TAD jackets fit in the comfort range. Looking at the arcteryx or beyondfleece site, I can see which are the lightest or warmest jackets. IF you have both, where would you say the tAD jacket would fit in on Arcteryx's scale?

I don't have both.., but a couple of the Ranger Hoodies..., they rock! I really like 'em!

Bought yet another jacket to try. It's a Marmot Sharp Point and so far it seems pretty nice. It's wind stopper like the Mountain Hardware I bought right before Christmas but alot thicker it seems. I wasn't happy with the fact that I had to layer with the Tech fleece from MH or else I would get a cold chill from hell. I guess this windstopper stuff isn't going to change the fact that you are still going to get cold if it is actually that cold outside;P From the reviews I have read the Sharp Point keeps most people warm down to 10 degrees or so with just a sweat shirt underneath:) Sometimes it's just too hard to pass up saving 75 dollars :D

Sometimes the temperature rating for outerwear can be a bit misleading. When I read the manufacturer's rating, I always keep in mind that it assumes a certain level of activity. There is a big difference between sitting or standing stationary versus hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, etc.

Yep, Mountain Hardware nor Marmot rate their gear temperature wise. Marmot has a scale that they rate the soft shells on other than that I have no clue. The Windstopper fabric that is in both of the jackets is supposed to retain heat and prevent wind penetration but as everyone knows, there is no way that a thin jacket is going to insulate you so it is up to you to figure out how to create the heat and insulation within the jacket. Wearing the MH alone and doing something physical like construction has kept me pretty toasty with it below freezing. Working on cars or doing something without alot of moving and I have trouble staying warm with a hoodie underneath it.
