TADGEAR? nope, not with this attitude....

Lets keep this civil, folks.

Remember; this forum is here to tell the other members your expeiences, good, bad, or ugly. You may not agree with the OP, but he is relaying his personal experience, and unless you were there, you only have his word.

What we don't need here is an all out war on either side. I would hate to start banning people for participating in an all out flame war against any member, but I'll do it if necessary.

Please. keep it civil.

Thank you... thank you very much!

I was reeled in and blindsided by the Cheerleaders as well.
I must say, it really peeved me off.
I appreciate the tolerance the Admin. & Mods show in this forum and would like to see it continue.
However, with that said... if someone has a good experience with someone, Post it!
Don't Flame someone for their experience.
This is NOT a place to Kiss A$$!

Calling people axxkissing cheerleaders? Applauding tolerance and saying don't flame anyone? This is doublespeak.

The whole point here as I see it is that a retailer let his irritation be known. Should not have said what he said. I have not seen anyone say otherwise. Personally, I think an apology by the retailer would be appropriate. Is that axxkissing?

I find it Ironic that if this involved two individuals instead of one individual and one retailer, the original post here might have gone like this:

"Don't buy from buyer XX. I listed an item for sale, he said "I'll take it", then although it was exactly as described, wanted to undo the deal."

This is a pretty simple enough issue -

Evan has a lot of support here from guys that are telling Dave he has to be a better customer and buy more in order to get the simple retail service you'd expect from a Walmart employee. Is that what I'm supposed to get out of the previous four pages?

Retail sales is about smiling and sucking it up when disappointment appears. Every missed opportunity is a new opportunity.

Retail sales is about providing expertise and knowledge when asked for it (all those emails.) Being asked a few questions does not entitle you to be bitter or derisive about it. It's what you chose to do for a living.

Retail sales is certainly not accusing someone who has bought a knife or watch or fishing reel or crochet tools from you of simply "borrowing it with a deposit."

TAD Gear - you have a lot of cool toys in the toy store. You've got a built-in audience with a lot of guys who cannot stop buying it, but when you fail to remember not everyone is going to appreciate your attitude you lose new customers/ clients who may become long-term. When they show enough interest to buy they are yours to keep or lose. You made what may have been a simple gaffe on this one, bus the gaffe shows an underlying principle, as expounded upon by your supporters. Why not keep in mind every transaction, especially for a business with a hi-profile web presence in a community driven largely by the internet at present, has the distinct propect of showing up at a place like GBU?

If you comport yourself as anything other than entirely professional at all times when dealing with a new client, then be prepared for the potential result. Yes, you offered less than your stated policy as a return fee, but the manner in which you make your offer has certainly done you no favors.

review TGB&U forum post and you'll see for yourself.

What's disgusting, a member posts a negative comment, and the same ones chime in to bash the poster.

That's B.S.

As far a TAD goes, it's his business and can do what he wishes. :D

Are you guys reading the same thing I am?

I do not see any cheerleading or axxkissing. I don't see anyone saying that the original post wasn't justified in terms of a comment from a retailer. I do think that the post would be on the other shoe if it involved two individuals.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, has said that the comment made by the TAD guy was inappropriate.

I wanted to add some perspective to what I perceived as the bashing of a small business. That I have met these guys personally did not stop me from saying that what was said should not have been said.

A simple post that they are good guys that should not have said what they said resulted in the axxkissing and cheerleading comment.

Parker is absolutely right when he states this: If you comport yourself as anything other than entirely professional at all times when dealing with a new client, then be prepared for the potential result.

Have any of the rest of us ever said anything inappropriate?

Having worked in retail, I agree completly with this. That "customer is always right" nonsense is almost always taken advantage of by assholes. This "PC" world we've created sucks, and were all turning into Emo kids.
"The customer is always right" isn't a "political correctness" thing by any stretch of the imagination. That saying has been around a long, long, long, long time. Far, far longer than PC.

From everything I have ever heard or seen, TAD is a good company to deal with and Evan is a good guy. Sometimes things happen that shouldn't. If we see more posts like this in the future, maybe then we can make something more of it. I think it is good that Dave let us know what happened, but I think a mountain has been made out of a molehill.

Ah Brandon is ok, he is just extremely passionate about standing up for one of his buddies!!!

I have got to believe Evan will be real cautious about doing this again in the future.......................................I hope so

SIFU1A, if you will read the post by hotrodKelley a few posts before mine, and THEN quote me properly (look REAL close) it MIGHT make more sense to you. In fact, if you can't read, process, and fully understand what I write, do us both a favor and put me on ignore. I really can't stand to have my words twisted around by someone who won't even check their own quotations for accuracy.:thumbdn:

perhaps we could let this thread die? original concerns legit. tadgear good company.

perceptions shape opinion shapes reallity. thats all.

Jewelry store I once worked in paid around 2% for most cc transactions, more around 4% for AMEX.

...

Stores pay less than mail order or on-line merchants because they get a customer signature. 3% would be low for an on-line merchant. The merchant has to pay for the charge in the first place and then pay it again for the refund. That's 6%. Packaging and packing costs are very real as well. A major percentage of returns come back missing something or in imperfect condition causing additional markdowns. He lost money taking the return for 5%.

You can take my word for it, returns are expensive and that is the reason for restocking fees. We don't use them but they sure are justified in this low margin, high discount business. Just wanted to give you some perspective from the merchant's side.

My guess is your email arrived at a bad time for the merchant. Not your fault. I'd let it roll off my back. It hasn't really hurt you. You can't go through life getting all tied up over a snide remark or two. You should read some of the stuff I get in my emails. It would curl your toes. Life is too short.

It is a reputable company that's been there for some time. His goal wasn't to get you mad. There is no future in that. He let a little frustration out. Let me suggest you give him a break and buy your next knife there. Perhaps he'll give you the restocking fee back against a new purchase.

Diamdave you're not alone when it comes to bad attitude from some people@ TG. I've had my share of rude comments. The "Library" comment was uncalled for and poor customerservice.:grumpy: You were very mature in stating your case. Don't pay attention to the negative comments. As you can see, bad attitudes are an infliction. Oh yeah. I forgot. When I bought my MiniUMS from another forum member, I too thought it was smaller than what it looked like in the pic.

I did not see any "bad attitutes" here, just opinions.

Nothing was inflicted on anyone!!!!

some of THE DUMBEST shit I have ever read on the Internet has been right here in this forum.
Yea, look in the mirror B.

Wanna compare knife collections? You might think you talk a tough game, but that's the extent of it I'm sure.
OK, SIFU1A included the word "I" otherwise the quote is exact. Who else were you talking about beside comparing your collection to his.
Brandon wants everybody to THINK that his is bigger...

Well, boss, when you make statements like...
you are all too cheap to pay $25.00 to become a member of this site...... and
I wouldn't think you would support any of it's members........all and any are both fairly inclusive words, and being a user of this site I felt included in your remarks. You certainly didn't hurt my feelings, I just find it real funny that a brand new member knows so damn much.

I agree with Brandon on this. There are other ways to support the site besides paying the membership fee. Like trying to answer people's questions and offer constructive feedback, being part of the community, linking to the site, telling people about it etc. I intend to pay the fee and become a member sometime, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I spend too much money on knives. HotRodKelley has 88 posts under his belt, but has paid a fee and thinks that makes him somehow better. Not everyone has lots of extra money lying around. Does that mean that their opinions are less valid than those that do, or that they have less of a right to participate? There are lots of dudes on the forums with thousands of posts that are still "registered users", that are vital and respected members of the community.

Actually, this thread has inspired me to go ahead and pay the fee so I'm in a better position to say something the next time I see something like this come up. I'm not a big fan of clannishness. So good job Hot Rod. Thanks for supporting the site.
