Talk me out of buying a small Sebenza

If money is that tight don't buy it. If you have it and aren't borrowing it from say, bills or what not just get the f@#king thing. If you don't love it you would only lose maybe $25 dollars reselling it as long as you don't tear it up. You could use it a month or so and really not lose much money. Sebenzas don't stay for sale very long. It's not like you are mortgaging your house. It's $330 not $30,000.

This isn't directed at you, however I pulled this as a quote. I compltetely disagree. I have CRKTs, Kershaws, Spydies, William Henrys and Lone Wolfs. Let's take WH out of the mix because IMO they are in a legue completely on there own. Their 275$ knife IMP is made better than others costing 2x that, but I digress.

Of the rest I would say Lone Wolf stands out as the best made, above and beyond Spydie, CRKT, Kershaw and all the rest. They feel better, they preform better, IMO they hold an edge better (as well as came out of the box with a better edge). You can tell just by looking at them that they cost more than myu others, and once you pick them up and open them you can feel how much better they are.

I have never handled a Sebenza, but if it is anything like my other higher end knives, there will definately be a difference between it and the ones that cost half.
Yes, there is a difference between high end knives and low end knives and that can be felt. However there's a lot of exceptions.

My Böker Black Forrest feels every bit as solid and well finished as the Sebenza's I've handled.

I've no doubt that the Sebenza's are more tighly finished. But it's very difficult to discern the difference if you're not sitting down with a precise caliper.

Why all the threads about the same darn thing? Noone can decide for you. Do some searchs and some research rather than post another thread about the same thing. Be you're own man and get one if you want one and can afford it. Otherwise don't. I couldn't care less about convincing you to either to buy one or not buy one because that's something you have to decide for yourself just like I did. Good luck to you in your search.

I agree with SteelSnob. But, I'd add this: If you do all your due diligence and research, and still find yourself coming back to the Sebenza, then you should buy one and carry it for awhile. If it doesn't suit you, sell it for a minimal loss. At least then you will have your answer.

Ask yourself - Do you want the knife based on the fact that others like it (and wanted it because others before them like it) or do you truly like it for the looks and material?

Cost aside, is it what you really want?

Do you just want the praise of having some random person say "Hey I really like your Sebenza" in some online post?

It's like some fan of a rockstar seeing the reaction of other fans and saying "I want to become a rockstar just so I can feel what it is like to have these fans love me".

There is no elite EDC club. And there are good alternatives to a Sebenza.

I handled one for a while and it was very nice, but not $400 nice. That being said, the real reason I don't want one is that after years of seeing them, they just went bland in my mind. And yes, I want a Sage II. But only because I like the way it looks and the spyderhole, not because everyone else touts it up.

I had the itch for 2 years and, well...........it just died off.

You know what, If you've been thinking against getting one for a while now. I guess the decision has been taken. I went thru the same thought process as you. A Chris Reeve is just too expensive. I mean I've got my Benchmade 551, a very nice folder. I've got my Spyderco Sage, just a sweet knife. And a few others that weren't as expensive as a Chris Reeve. So there are other folders out there. BUT i am expecting the delivery of my brand spanking new Small Sebenza 21 this Wednesday..... ooops. Once you get that Chris Reeve itch, you just have to scratch it. I say pick one up. The worse that will happen is you'll like it and want the large.

I can't understand the price.
You can buy Leatherman multitool with titanium handles, S30V blade and much much more for 16 % Sebenza price and cuts exactly the same..... Even cheep victorinox cuts better than sebbe...
I owned small regular one but this handle serrations make my hand hurt during long hard work.
I am left handed . Sebenza is the only (known to me) left hand opened titanium framelock so there is no rescue for me...

So i will buy anotherone and so will you.... :P
