Talonite junkie? Not me. I'm a "Talonite Good, Bad, or Ugly?" thread-junkie.

1. All steel grades are different as are all Haynes alloys. If you are really good, as a lot of you are, you can tell the same grade of steel from different manufactures.

2. Oxtails have a double offset bone structure that makes the knife twist sideways.

3. Really big news. The Wong contest knives from Tom Mayo just hit my desk. When I unwrapped the first one it was so pretty that I didn't even want to touch it. They are really gorgeous.

I just talked to Mike Turber and he and I are going to do another contest. This Talonite knife from Tom Mayo is going to be their January cover and prize knife. You can win this knife in January. Talonite, Tom Mayo and an absolutely limited series of three knives. #1 goes to Eric Wing the designer. #2 goes to Jake Evans the contest winner. #3 is the sponsor's knife and I am donating it for the contest.

2 more things. 1. I don’t suppose that those of you who have been criticizing Talonite or teasing Tom Mayo will want to enter but you certainly can. (That’s a gentle joke. Don't go reading anything more than good-natured fun into it, please?) 2. I am going to enter and if I win this knife back it will be mine. (I never realized that it would be quite so beautiful when I promised to donate it.)

I just hope Tom Mayo doesn't take my teasing him as an offense. I like people with sense of humor and his is unique: martian stuff etc. See how he put an ultimate stop to that "your favorite blade steel" thread in General forum area with his now-famous spell.

Sure I'd join the contest. If I don't win I may be frustrated enough to order an identical one (given that I could recover from recent "impulsive" purchases.)

Dew.

Now I should learn to make other types of those cool smileys.
Ah, got one.

Tom Walz, you are da man! I believe that I could not bear to let that Odessa go once I got to touch it. Absolutely beautiful. The only thing that keeps me from going directly to Tom Mayo's site and ordering one is the price. While I am ABSOLUTELY sold on Talonite, and thus probably any/all of the "Haynes" alloys, I'm not wealthy enough to buy all my knives in it. Unfortunately, I have to throttle back and get knives in steel, if I want to remain financially solvent.

Besides, I'm already committed to a couple more custom Talonite knives.

RockSpyder, you are hooked - line & sinker - Talonite has an attraction & so many great makers are creating great knives with it - I'm up to 9 Talonite & 1 Stellite 6K with more coming. Just recently got a Talonite Quickening from R. J. Martin that is set up as a dive knife - it is fabulous & heavy - it must be 1/4" - full tang with green/brown checkered handles - sheath set up for diving- you would like it!!!

Does anyone still want to discuss Talonite?

I got the impression somewhere in this thread that there may be several commercial folders available with Talonite blades. My local knife shop didn't seem to have any when I checked last week. Can someone provide me with makers and model numbers for a good production folder. Just wanted to test some of these for myself before I try a custom piece.

Still loving my Tom Mayo ultralight TNT... cuts meat and fiber like the dickens, I need to try it out on Oxtails. But on roadkill, no prob skinning or cleaving parts.

Nine more posts to hit 400! Come on guys! We need to break the 500 mark! Allen Blade is the "Best Buy Talonite Guy" but too many of you boneheads have ordered Talonite and it is like trying to order a steak at Vegans-R-Us... Don't buy Talonite! It does not work!!!!

9 knives, and one of them a Quickening?! Oh man, BILL, I'm gonna have to mosey up around Fairfax way and get you to let me take a look at some of those. YEAh, I'm hooked; would be even moreso if I was wealthier.
