Do you have any plans to get identical test knives in various blade materials?
I am interested in your results, but until we compare apples to apples I think the
conclusions drawn are a bit misleading.
From what I can tell, in your knife tests Talonite has a similar edge holding to VG10,with the added advantage of complete rust resistance.
I find that in softer materials it cuts very, very well. I have used, and seen it used extensively on game without any deformation, chips etc.
My suggestion is to commission a maker to make 4 or 5 pieces of an existing pattern-
The RJ Martin "handiman" neck knife would be a good place to start, or even a Simonich Cetan.
Then test away. That would remove some of the variables and allow you to test the material, rather than the construction.
