10 year old thread.....It was a large American Bowie knife that belonged to his father, from the late 1800s.
Old threads don't get automatically locked so people searching for random topics inevitably find an old thread, ignore the timestamps, and post away. What's with all the necro threads?
Older than 10 years, original post was in 2005! This threads come back multiple times. I barely remember the original movies, but I do remember Greystoke quite well, along with the books. TARZAN AND CONAN, that was what got me started really reading beyond what was required in school.10 year old thread.....

I have an odd memory for minutiae. Doesn't extend to names, though.knarfeng your memory about those little details astounds me
I barely remember yesterday let alone a book I read decades ago lol
Great quote. I had all the Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan books as a kid (they cost around 10 cents at the annual used book sale). I think he killed a gorilla* with that knife, too (*not a close relative). The first Tarzan book that Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote was "Tarzan of the Apes". As we all know, Tarzan was raised from an infant by the apes. Later on he comes across the jungle cabin where his parents lived where he found their skeletons, books, etc.
From Chapter six -
"Among other things he found a sharp hunting knife, on the keen blade of which he immediately proceeded to cut his finger. Undaunted he continued his experiments, finding that he could hack and hew splinters of wood from the table and chairs with this new toy."
So there you have it, LB. It was his Dad's knife and he not only cut himself with it, he chopped up the furniture. A true knife knut.![]()
