Team Gemini Light Brigade Differences

Imperial Measurements

Black TGLB fuller measurements
Width: 0.472 inch
Depth: 0.157 inch
Length: 5.315 inches

Muddy TGLB fuller measurements
Width: 0.354 inch
Depth: 0.0787 inch
Length: 5.118 inches

it is so obvious that they have some differences :)

You know what they say. 'There are two kinds of countries. Those that have been to the moon, and those that use the metric system". Haha!
America has quite a lot of smart people with Noble prices, most of them scientists who use the metric system.
Even NASA switched to metric, though one might argue they went downhill since then.

I really struggled to capture the slight recurve on camera. This is the best pic i could get. Lined the cutting edge up with a piece of paper..It's much easier to see with your eyes.

Oh and i forgot to take photos but the hollow grind on the black TGLB is far more prominent. The muddy brown TGLB might even be flat saber

I agree, definitely looks flat on the muddy one… the edge is much thicker also.

That's QUITE a difference. Maybe tool life was nearing the end for the tan tglb. Still "in tolerance" just at the end of the tools life where it would be cutting less deep, wide, and long. ..it would explain why all of the numbers are lower than the black one.

The black tglb would have been cut with brand new tools.

Bingo.

I feel like there were multiple runs on the LB and even if there wasn't logistical (tooling) reasons for the differences, it was kinda a new thing for them to do and I can see it getting refined.

I had a black/black that was definitely hollow ground and slicey. My recent G10 handle is very not slicey and practically flat ground.

Black TGLB fuller measurements
Width: 12mm
Depth: 4mm
Length: 135mm

Muddy TGLB fuller measurements
Width: 9mm
Depth: 2mm
Length: 130mm

The depth measurement is just for one fuller right? I thought the fullers are placed symmetrically relative to each other on both sides. So accounting both side fullers, combined fullers depth is 4mm for muddy TGLB and 8mm for black TGLB. And blade thickness is around 1/4" (~6.35mm). I am confused and I am sure I misunderstood something here.

I only measured one fuller per knife. Weird how it doesn't add up, perhaps i was off my 1mm for the Black TGLB. Combined fullers could equal 6mm..sorry i didn't have a dead accurate way of measuring them but tried my best

Agree, it will be very difficult to get accurate measurement of the depth. Thanks for your efforts in taking measurements of the fuller.
Out of curiosity I searched the thread where Jerry provided a cross section picture of TGLB http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/845708-The-Science-Behind-The-quot-Light-Brigade-quot-Series-(Cool-Pics) from the pics, it looks like combined fullers take less than half of blade thickness

How much does your TGLB weigh?

I have two TGLB that have had a considerable weight difference. I finally weighed them and found the results to be profound....

I had my dad weigh his TGLB and it was 17.4oz.

Hmmmmm? That is a considerable difference if you ask me. That's a 3+ oz difference. I wonder if the heavier one's handles weren't milled?
