Ted Nugent on UK knife crime

It appears the UK has a problem common to industrial nations - confusing the control of mechanical contrivances with the control of humans.

I swear, if I didn't know for a fact that many of the "human rights", including the right to be armed, did indeed have some basis in the history of the UK, I'd never believe such a statement contributing them such made today.

I just read the first post & all I have to say is +1:thumbup:Mr.Nugent:D

Not for nothing, but it seems kind of rude to go to someone else's country and give them shit for their laws. We'd get angry if, say, Elton John did a concert in New York and started out by saying, "I understand you people have a firearms crime problem in the States. We solved that by taking everyone's guns away. You should do the same." We'd tell him where to shove it because he's a visitor to our country. Now, Nuge is right and Sir Elton in his fictional incarnation would be wrong, but still.

I temporarily live in the UK, I just ordered some blades online and they got seized by customs, under the new law that was adopted last April, I am lucky to get off without of fine……. If you make possessing weapons a criminal offence, then criminals will be the only ones carrying them, but the English are just to stupid to realize that. Self defence is considered not done, is this country.
Many years ago, I almost got knifed by a druggie, I was able to run off. Knocked on an old lady’s door, and locked myself in, the police arrived 45 minutes later! But the Brits have blind faith in the police that is supposed the rescue them, heck the police here carries nothing more than a can of seasoning (pepper spray), they don’t even have the tools to stop dangerous criminals. And even if the criminals get busted, they go to prison ( fully equipped with play station) for a weeks, en then go onto a ‘reintegration’ program. As Ted Nugent said:’ I don’t like serial offenders, I like dead offenders.’

Most knife offence in the UK are committed with kitchen cutlery anyway. The last time I checked, scissors where considered offensive weapons in this country. One day I will move back to the mainland. ………

Could you have phrased that in a more inflammatory way?

But the Brits have blind faith in the police that is supposed the rescue them

Both of the above statements are totally false and totally tactless. You are talking about the British government. It's like me saying "Americans think there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and are against abortion" - no, it's the person in charge that that is/was true of.

heck the police here carries nothing more than a can of seasoning (pepper spray), they don’t even have the tools to stop dangerous criminals.

Again not true. They also carry an ASP and some have guns. In Asda I saw two with Glocks just buying food.

No, they aren't if you're not intending to stab someone with them. If you carry ANYTHING intending to use it as a weapon it's against the law - that goes for knives, scissors, table legs, tins of paint, marshmallows, etc. Just carrying a pair of scissors for any reason other than violence is fine.

Uncle Ted making inflammatory statements?:eek::eek:
Hopefully he said it right before he busted out "Stranglehold"
He'd welcome someone telling him to shove it. If you've ever heard The Nuge debate/argue, it's a pretty amazing thing.

I wonder if they let him do any archery tricks on stage.

Way to go Ted!

Ole Ted is about as phony as a $3 bill. I'd rather be preached to by someone who hadn't shat himself to get out of military service, and isn't busy wagging his finger about divorce and sexual diseases. You'd think he never listened to some of his old songs from the 70s.

Ted said, "I understand that London has a knife problem. That's because you took everybody's guns away."

He continued: "If you had a f***ing gun you could shoot the motherf*****s with the knife. Do you need me to explain that to you dumb Limey motherf******? In Detroit, we don't have a knife problem. The knife motherf*****s got a Ted problem."

"Oooh, he's got a knife, I'll pretend I'm from England'. [Imitates firing a gun]. Take that motherf****r. [Then pretends to call 911]: 'You might wanna bring a dustpan and broom because there's a big puddle of shit on the sidewalk'. That's what you call a deterrent. That motherf****r ain't gonna knife no-one ever again."

While I agree that prohibition doesn't work (with any thing), I think these statements sound like they came from a 13 year old, posturing coward.

Ted is a pathetic chickenhawk.

England, one more empire down the toilet with the rest of the eurotrash,
Makes ya wonder why We always have to save their pathetic asses!

Who needs knives?

Nevertheless, whether crime rates anywhere are rising or falling, are higher in one place than another, is all irrelevent. Unfortunately, legislators are panderers. They don't analyze the situation rationally and determine effective solutions. They take emotionally satisfying measures -- if possible, measures "demanded" by a pressure group. And anyone can become a pressure group -- just get some media coverage and you've got the politicians' attention.

Gentlemen, we are discussing this in the Knife laws forum, not Whine & Cheese.

As for always saving the Europeans, that was in the bad old days when they were hyperviolent. Now that they are averse to violence, what are you worried about saving them from, boredom?

I get turned off by celebrities who spout political viewpoints, especially in public and in countries that are foreign to them. His observations about knife crime in the UK are correct; nobody would argue that. Unfortunately, his British audience will not remember him for his excellent guitar work but rather the spectacle that he created by being the stereotypical "ugly American".

Hmm.. Yeah, right..

Unfortunatley us Brits don't have such a strong movement for the arming of our citizens.. If those in charge thought the way to an easy election victory was the legalising of weapons, we'd all be carrying Uzis and Bowie knives faster than you can say 'Rambo'..
