yeah, I wish more sites had country of origin easily accessible. I was about to buy the new Spyderco Perrin PPT tonight, but I hunted down some photos of it until I could see the other side of the blade. A shame though. What a gorgeous knife.

JHC! The poster asked for opinions on her website, not venture capital! This is the internet -- all you Hardy Boys who take it upon yourselves to pull a credit check need to dial it back.

It's more research out of curiosity into this interesting person.

Yea, what a shame that it's made in a country outside of our own. Make everything in USA or you say no.

Really?

Not at all. I just want to be discounted for going outside of the USA or Japan. A lot of the Taiwanese made knives cost as much as similar knives made in the USA (like the Perrin PPT).

Feel free to PM me over it or start a side thread. I was just remarking an instance today that I wished the site I was shopping at showed country of origin.

I second the Facebook recommendation, and the logo.

Regarding the logo, think meme.

I know everyone's doing YouTube knife reviews. Still, something you might want to think about. Then, you can add them to your website.

Also, I think your own story is interesting/newsworthy enough for a human interest piece in your local paper and/or TV News. I'd recommend a press release.

The reason I mentioned it was because she is selling Schrades
Granted you and I (and most informed knife buyers) know the NEW Schrades are made in China
Some guy new to knives might be a little upset when he gets the Schrade in the mail:eek:
Ultimately it is up to the buyer to do his research..imho
We sometimes have to learn the hard way
I know I did regarding NEW Schrades
(they Ebay seller offered to let me return the knife...I kept it anyways and gave it as a gift to my nephew)

It would play well in some areas, but in northern California I imagine CPS would be at the door.

I agree that it'd be an interesting read though.

I gladly take requests. Which model are you looking for? I'll hook you up!
I'll take you up on that. Let me check on a few models and I'll correspond directly through your store.

I'm sure you already have a handle on sales/marketing, but if you want to bounce around a few ideas, I'd be glad to offer some suggestions, free of charge. Same goes for the logo/meme design.

That would be fantastic! I love suggestions!

Tomorrow, I'll check out your website a little more thoroughly. I already have an idea on the meme. I'll let you know on it tomorrow. If you're still having font/code probs, let me know. I'm not a pro, but I've done a few websites, myself.

Again, I think it's great you're following your dreams. I believe this is the sort of thing that should be encouraged & supported in our youth. I wish more folks your age had the confidence to be their own boss, so to speak. Your parents must be proud.

Thank you, Chandler. You've made my day.

Thanks for all of your help and support! It means a lot to me!

"653k. Every person who possesses in the passenger's or driver's
area of any motor vehicle in any public place or place open to the
public, carries upon his or her person, and every person who sells,

other person a switchblade knife having a blade two or more inches in
length is guilty of a misdemeanor.
For the purposes of this section, "switchblade knife" means a

spring-blade knife, snap-blade knife, gravity knife or any other
similar type knife, the blade or blades of which are two or more
inches in length and which can be released automatically by a flick
of a button, pressure on the handle, flip of the wrist or other
mechanical device, or is released by the weight of the blade or by
any type of mechanism whatsoever. "Switchblade knife" does not
include a knife that opens with one hand utilizing thumb pressure
applied solely to the blade of the knife or a thumb stud attached to
the blade, provided that the knife has a detent or other mechanism
that provides resistance that must be overcome in opening the blade,
or that biases the blade back toward its closed position.

California case law:
Butterfly knife which has blade in excess of two inches is
"switch-blade knife" within meaning of... 653k. [Attorney
General's opinion 11-19-1985.]"

Citation: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/dwcl/244.php

I'm not a CA attorney so I'm not up to date on the current statutes or case law regarding so-called switchblades, which apparently the CA legislature decided that basically all knives are switchblades. It also doesn't appear to mention some sort of retail sales exception.

Depending on how you're doing financially, it might be a good idea to get a lawyer to counsel you on the relevant state and federal law. It probably wouldn't be too expensive since it would basically be a memo or a Q&A.

Hiring a lawyer down the road if you're sued or prosecuted would be far more expensive.
