Tell me about the Case 06247

I thought PEN was for the secondary blade, not the pattern configuration. Live and learn!

If you adhere to Bernie Levine's guidelines, it's a double-end Jack!
Larger size and two pivots, usually a single-spring! If you are a Case pure-heart, it is a Large Pen! Take your choice!!;)
I always liked Bernie's approach, but if Case calls it a PEN . . . . . .
I have been told being able to absorb uncertainty (Pen or Jack) is a sign of maturity!! Actually, I often feel a little over-ripe!!:D

Jeff is right of course. I spent some time last night reading the chapter about Case patterns in Steve Pfeiffer's book. In the section on the 47, there were references to the 05247SP, stag covers with a spey blade of course. It would seem that the "PEN" in 06247PEN is a secondary blade indicator, not an indicator of pattern configuration.

So I suppose the 06247PEN CAN still be regarded as a double-end jack!

Forgive my ignorance...

A "10" means you can't open it... A "12" must mean it's cutting through the back spring. ;)
Yeah.... I don't have a "tongue in cheek" emoji.... if "10" means you can't open it, then it's a strong 9. I can open it, but every one I've handed it to, tried it, and said "oooohhh.... that's hard", and didn't open it.
The main blade is realistically a strong 7.

Ya, I figured you were exaggerating, that's why I used the 'wink' emoji. :D

I agree, that the letters attached to the Case pattern number usually refer to content in a knife! They are not the only ones who attach letters to the patterns.
(edit) Back in post #14 you will see "05247SP" on the tang, and that Red Stag knife has a Spey!! I consider that knife a two-blade Stockman!!

Umm...there's dirt on your knife John. Send it my way and I'll clean it for you. No idea when you'll get it back though.

😉

Just received the knife and already i absolutely love it!
Nice slim package, long main blade, built like a tank, strong pull and exciting 'snap'... just the way I like 'em.
A real treasure!! Nice one, John!!
