Tell Me If I'm Being Harsh

ChickenSpider, I appreciate your response. Up until recently my career has been nothing but retail. I try to make my transactions as proffesional as possible, my problem was that this transaction had been completed, my knife was already in the mail with no way of stopping it. The person I traded with had agreed to mail it at the same time. Instead he informed me the day after I mailed mine that his was broken and rusted and he offered me another trade.
This in my opinion was a bad example of how to conduct business. Not to mention that it was a unusual coincidence. I don't consider that your transcation was even near completed, all though I could see his dissappointment, at least you didn't let the item ship. Which was really what angered me, as I really wasn't happy to see this knife go. I even had second thoughts about the trade, but since I had made an agreement with this individual, I sent it anyway.
On a good note he did send me back my cost of shipping, which I received today. I am still hoping to get my knife. Hopefully tomorrow. But since he sent the money I'm sure I will receive the knife.
From my perception of this whole deal, I get the feeling that this was a case of cold feet, or that he got another deal. I had sent an email suggesting that he sell me the knife as MT will put a new blade on it for $50.00. He did respond saying that the knife was in the mail. He didn't give me a response about selling me the knife, which I believe he at least owed me a response.
At any rate this matter will all be water under the bridge as soon as I get my knife.
I do think this is a good subject as I have not seen any written manner as to how transactions should be made on the forum. If anything good comes of this, such as an example as to how business should be conducted then it will be worth having brought up.

IIRC there is an unnofficial set of trading rules. I don't know where, maybe somebody can post a link to it?

Yeah, sounds like neither one of you was trying to do the other wrong, even though the other guy made a mistake. Not everyone is as smart and considerate as me and you.
