Tell Me Other Spydies That I Will Love (Please)

Blue Domino for mid size, or Chapparal for light/gentleman carry.

You need a military. It will seem too big at first, but use it for a few days and everything else feels too small. :-)

Definitely give the GB a chance if you haven't, as well as the Southard.

Nice collection you've got started!

+1 on that
You Surfingringo introduced me to the Salt line and after a while I own almost all of them.
I can't thank you enough for showing me the best, most comfortable, reliable and tough workhorses of the Spyderco knives.
And I can't damn you enough for being the guy who made me spend most of my money and almost my entire knife budget on the Salt line since then!! ;)

Each of us has there own preferences so it's hard to know what you would really like, so this is, of course, just my opinion based on my own experience.

As already stated, a Military is definitely worth having, iconic Spyderco and sooo usable, to put something larger in your lineup at a very reasonable weight.

And you need a Taichung Spyderco of your choice, you deserve the experience of their beautiful quality. I have 2 Sages (1 and 4) a Domino and a GB, and would have a Slysz Bowie if I could afford it.

Enjoy the researching and I hope you find what you want!

I highly recommend the blue cf domino or regular cf version. This is probably my most used knife. I carry it daily along with a seb 21 and a small tidoute lockback.

Domino all day. You have a great start there and there are a lot of great knives being suggested but you will love the Domino.

Military! One of my all time favorite knives.

Seconding this, though I've only got the Ti model. OP, it looks to me as though you are without a Ti framelock, and I think the Ti Millie is the best available for the money as well as just being a spectacular knife all-around.

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone for your thoughts! After an unexpectedly lucrative weekend of tips at my second job (or as I like to call it: Work, the sequel) I'm teetering on the edge of ordering a Slysz Bowie. I just feel like I need that one final extra push!

The Slysz Bowie is indeed an awesome choice! I got to handle one extensively earlier this year and was highly impressed.

They only problem is it's supposed to get delivered on Thursday, but I'm leaving on Thursday and not getting home until Monday! Ah! The agony!

So! Here's what happened today. My Slysz Bowie got delivered at 12:30 and my flight leaves at 3! Ah! Currently on my way to the airport, meaning that I literally had 30 minutes to enjoy the knife. I'll be back really late on Sunday and I'll take some pics then.

However, for now:
WOW. I mean really, this thing knocked my socks off more than I thought it would, though in a subtle way somehow (if that makes sense).

I think it'll make sense for me to organize my thoughts by saying what I expected vs the reality:

Expected: really, really excellent fit and finish.
Reality: just as expected. Knife has great, strong detent and yet opens with ease. Considering how smooth it is, it had me believing that there would be some level of play, but this thing is just as solid in every direction as my PM2 (which is to say, as a rock). Lock up is pretty late, maybe around 75 or 80 percent, which doesn't bother me in the slightest. Lock is nice and easy to disengage, but solid.

Expectation: this knife will be extremely sharp and an excellent slicer.
Reality: confirmed. Just...confirmed.

Expectation: the titanium scales, like the stainless scale on my ZT 0566, will be too slippery.
Reality: the stonewash on the scales provides a finish that is (of course) slicker than g10. However, nowhere near as slick as the stainless on the ZT. A great feel and great texture.

Expectation: this knife is on the large side, and will push the "too big" boundary in terms of edc, especially when compared to my PM2 and native 5.
Reality: this thing is a GREAT size. Carries in the pocket like a dream and has an absolutely ideal (for me) handle and blade size.

Expectation: the lock cutout paired with the pocket clip will snag my pocket upon deployment.
Reality: I've read a lot about this problem, but this thing slips in and out of my pocket with zero hitches. Plus, it carries nice and deep (which is a first when compared to my other spydie folders).

Ok, my flight is starting to board so I guess I have to wrap this up. I can't believe I have to be away from this beauty for 3 whole days! Stay tuned for pictures on Monday!

My Slysz will snag my pocket and it just doesn't want to come out. I don't find this to be a problem - I like heavy retention - I don't want to have this knife grab something and get pulled out of my pocket without me knowing. I just slip my finger between the bottom of the clip and my pants and pull it out - EASY!!!

Hope you enjoy your Bowie as I have mine :)

Finally got a chance to snap some pics! Unfortunately, it gets dark so flipping early these days that I didn't have much daylight. Sorry that they're a little dark! Still totally loving the knife. Thanks again for all the help!

I want a Slysz Bowie now. :D
Looks good in the bluish tint in the photos.

How is the lock-up on yours? Most I see all have deep lock-up, which doesn't really bother me, but does it create a very thin grip on the bottom side of handle?
