Tenacious..Is it the best deal out there?

Buck Vantage series.
Vantage Pro $48 G10/S30V and its all USA
Vantage Avid $32 Dymondwood/Sandvik 13C26 and did I mention its USA made.
The flipper is as fast as any AO. I just got the Pro and Avid this week. I also have the Tenacious, which I thought was the best value knife. No longer...the Vantage Pro/Vantage beats it hands down.
Fantastic knife.

Wow... I am very impressed with the Avid series. I kinda want one now.

How's the feeling of the Dymondwood (never tried it) versus the G10? I'm considering picking up one of these blades, for the heck of it. Are they flat or hollow-ground? And where did you get it - I can only find a presale at knifecenter?

I haven't handled a Spyderco Tenacious, but I am curious about it. Same for the Buck Vantage.

That said, it's hard to imagine them beating my Kershaw OD-1 value-wise. If they do, I definitely want one (actually, I want one, in any case).

Agreed with the Tenacious until I picked up the Kershaw OD-1. Absolutely bumped out the Tenacious hands down for me---Love the Kershaw OD-1:thumbup::)

Kershaw Vapors are nice. The Benchmade Vex is exactly the same in materials as the Tenacious, at the same price point. The ergos are about the only difference, which is a highly subjective and debatable point.

Lots of folks like the Tenacious for it's exposed hole on the wide blade - but I prefer the Vex with its slimmer profile in my pocket, because that's where it really needs to fit 95% of the time. The dropped butt on the Tenancious handles well and rotates the point down for cutting, but I use the Vex a lot with a finger near the tip in a choke hold, and a straighter grip helps me. Again, that dropped butt takes up more pocket room in carry, not with the Vex.

Needing to get into a pocket for other stuff has a priority, too. I don't need to fight my way past a wide bladed, curved handled folder that inhibits the process, especially in jeans.

Knives are more than just about themselves, but how they fit into your overall use.

I hard tested the Tenacious, it's a great EDC knife. But the Timberline Large Workhorse is a little sturdier IMO.

And the Kershaw Storm 1 or 2 is even better for that price...

When did these come out? I might have to get me one or two

Those vantage pros do look like a sweet deal.... any retailers stock them??
Also, I have never had a tenacious, but the OD-1 is the best 40 knife I have ever owned.

i really like the kershaw zing for that price range, also as mentioned before the OD-1 and skyline

Tenacious is a great $33 knife, that's roughly what I paid when I had one. I find the Kershaw PackRat to be quite possibly 'the' knife.... handle ergos are perfect, blade curve is perfect for utility or SD, it's not too long but its longer than a Delica or Meadowlark, G10 is a touch rough which I like, one notch below an Avalanche.

Poster above writing about Benchmade Vex was correct. A very good, underrated knife for the money. I don't usually like Tantos but I found that Tanto Vex to be very intuitive in handling, opening and cutting.

I owned and sold a Skyline. Great knife, very simple, good cutter. I found the handle a tad short even for my smallish hands, though.

I vote Spydie Tenacious as well, great knife for the money, super sharp, 4 point clip, that Spydie hole, great feel to the grip, G10, high clip mount, thick liners, sharp secure jimping, a really nice knife.

Today I laid the Tenacious on my desk....beside my Sage. Sure there are differences but not enough....if money is factored in.

I appreciate all of the other choices in the market place that I would not have known about except for this Forum. Thanks all....for the ideas.

Flatlander, which Buck is the one below the Avid in your group shot? I'm trying to get a sense of scale. Also, is the clip switchable to left handed?

Nothing against the Tenacious, but for the same money I would buy a Boker M Type/Trance or Kershaw Skyline.

I am BIG Spyderco Fan and somewhat BIG Boker fan - and I have had both knives at the same time - and for my money, the Tenacious all the way. I have since traded the Skyline and gotten a 2nd Tenacious - to me the Tenacious is just an all around better knife IMHO.

To be honest, the Tenacious is one of the best knives out there for 50 bucks, let alone 30. The Buck up there looks like a nice knife, but a Spyderco its not.
