In case you've been out of touch terrorists have flown two hijacked planes into the World Trade Center. Also an explosion has been reported at the Pentagon. Forumites in urban locations please be alert and avoid potential target areas. FAA has grounded all air transport nationwide.

Please everyone take care, more could be on the way.

May God help those still trapped and the families of the victims.

Now it's being said that two aircraft were hijacked with passengers on board that crashed into the World Trade Center Buildings.

Still not sure what hit the Pentagon.

May the Gods be with all the victims and their families and with alll of us.

And reports of a car bomb outside the State Department.

Sad to contrast this with Admiral Yamamoto's(?) statement half a century ago that " You can not invade the United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass. "

Just wanted to send my prayers and best wishes to all and any who are affected by this horrendous tragedy.

As of 9:45 Texas time...Ft. Hood is closed....I believe we are pulling it together and prepareing for another strike.

Central Texas has one of the largest Military supply depots in the world...I will inform you how it goes.

If it is in preparation for a counterstrike, may it be chosen very wisely, though I can't imagine how that could be done.

Later edit: It's been said that letting hatred consume you is like drinking a glass of poison yourself and waiting for your enemy to die. How sad we cannot differentiate easily those living in hate from those living like us in confusion and jumbled emotions. I have no problems with putting down a rabid dog on sight. Would that dealing with the full of hate can't be so simple. End edit.

Got a call from Chokpa who now lives in NYC early this AM telling us about the tragedy. She can't get to work. Everything is a mess.

Boys it is very difficult to be a good Buddhist at this moment. My primary emotion is anger and a great desire for revenge.

More later. No UBDOTDs today but what we must do is carry on. We cannot allow terrorists to get the best of us. We will survive and we will prevail. Hang together.

Smoke going up for all those who lost their lives, are injured, fearful, and families -- and smoke goes up for us and the good old USA!

As I sateted in another thread, I see it but I just can't believe.
I feel really shocked and sorry for all those people who lost their lives in such an stupid manner and really am at a loss of words.
Even here, in a small little Brazilian town, people can't get away from the TV screen and everybody is amazed like if it had happened in São Paulo.

Uncle Bill, I am trying to be a good Christian as hard as you are trying to be a good Budhist. My spirit cries out sympathy and forgiveness, my flesh cries for retribution and justice. I pray God will work His will through all of this somehow. I am in shock. May God be with all of us.

Thanks, Bob. I have one eye on this screen and another on the TV screen so if I sound a little garbled that's the reason.

Brazilian TV has just reported that there are another five planes hyjacked, that a plane was shot in Pennsylvania, that there was a fire in the congress - anyone knows anything more concrete? I am not being able to get all the facts from here.

Ivan,
There is another plane down in Pennsylvania, causes unknown. All flights in the US have been shut down. Federal buildings have been evacuated, but there have been no reports of fire in Congress that I've heard. They may be referring to the third plane that crashed into the Pentagon. I haven't heard anything about more hijackings.

I'm sure I speak for all of us forumites in the US when I say that we greatly appreciate your concern.

Patrick

All military bases are closed and all personell are to report in. Armed gards are on post and all federal buildings are evacuated and under heavy security.

All of my classes here in college have been canceled for the day. I believe I heard that they still do not know who did this. All I know is that I send prayers for everyone.

Everything has changed in our world.

My mother called me and told me not to enlist quite yet, she said for me to graduate and then go in as an officer. This from a woman who convinced me to go to college instead join the Marines with most of my high school buddys. That conversation sure did get me thinking.

Everything has changed, let's sit back watch and pray.

This incident is an act of war and I think it is time for a call to arms. It is time to go after the terrorists, all of them, wherever they might be holed up, full bore and keeping in mind that the friend of my ememy is my enemy. I know this is not good Buddhist thinking but I am not capable of that right now.

My prayers go out to you all.
May God have mercy on all the poor victims!

This is a tragic turn of events.

My thoughts are with those in NYC, DC.

It is hard not to think about completly wiping some miserable terrorist scum out of existence.

It's hard to be a good Buddhist or a good Christian or even just a good person right now, but we all need to try. We know that there is a concerted attack going on. We don't know who is doing it or why or what may happen next. I'm as shocked and angry as anybody, but I know that I ought to (figuratively) count to ten (or in this case, perhaps, 10,000,000) while my mind has a chance to clear. Perhaps sometime in the next few days or weeks we will learn more. In the meantime, let's just send up what smoke we can manage for the victims and their families. There will be plenty of time for retribution later. Right now, we have more need for calm and whatever help we can supply.

Paul

I'm trying to be calm and collected but find it impossible. If I were president I'd have bombers headed toward Afghanistan right now. Guess it's a good thing I'm not president.

I am very scared of things to come!:( I'm praying for all around the world. We all need to stick together and America will prevale!
