HI all, new poster to the board, but I have been lurking and learning for quite a while now.

Most all of my knife work is done with pre-made blanks that I dabble with and recently lost the supplier I had been getting them from.

After reading this board for a while I found that many folks recommend Texas Knife Makers Supply, so I placed an order for 2 blanks, and 2 sets of scales to see what kind of materials they had.

When I opened the box today I had one set of scales and a piece of somesort of wire... They did pack my order slip along with the other stuff and the order slip even had pictures on it!

I plan to call them in the morning, but my question is; should I expect this a lot from them or is my first order just a bad experience that will not likely be repeated?

Yes, they mixed up my address, sent it to the wrong destination. Promised that my items were in stock and the wern't. Quite a hassle. Had an an attitude when I appropriately expressed my frustration, Stephen

I have placed many orders with them and have found them very good to deal with. Sorry you have had a different experience.

I only deal with Texas Knifemakers if I absolutley have to. I've expressed frustration with my problems and got nowhere. Good luck

I have had the same sort of experience. Got what I wanted in one place quickly at a reasonable price. No complaints.....ever.

If your blade blanks were a large, kitchen knife and a pairing type knife, I'm the guy that got them. I mailed them back today.

Try Jantz supply, I've never had a problem with them and their catalog has a good variety of blade blanks too.
Another place that gives excellent service is USA Knifemakers Supply, they do a great job at getting your order out the door and sending what you ordered. Not sure about the selection of blanks he carries though.

I've placed several order's with them and have never had any problems, other than maybe a little slow shipping

I had too many problems with Texas also, Use Usaknifemaker.com
Never had a problem

I wholeheartedly agree--BUT, sadly they do not carry some of the things other suppliers do. Actually, it seems every knife supply company carries a few things that the others don't so one has to deal with several companies.

I see your point there bud! But 90% of what I need Tracy has got. If he doesnt, he is working his butt off to get it at a good price for us.

I just wish he would get us them Trizacts in:D:thumbup: Tracy....I know your watching....We need Trizacts brother...>LOL

Just talked with Janice at Texas Knife and she said they will correct the order and have it out today.

She seemed very concerned about the issue, now I'll wait for the blanks to arrive to see how the quality of the product is.

I appreciate the replies to this question and love this forum, LOTS of knowledge in here.

I've never had trouble other than them not changing my shipping address as I requested when I moved. Other than that, no real problems. I get most of my stuff from Tracy or from Pop's, but I use TKS or others when needed.

I have used Knifekits.com and been impressed by the organization of the website and received my orders just fine.

I recently had an experience with Texas Knife Supply. I ordered some linen Micarta and a block of stabilized wood (marked as 1x1.5x5). What arrived was paper micarta and wood at 7/8th x 1.5 x 5, which unfortunatly was too small. I called and service over the phone was very good. They said I could post the stuff right back and they would replace it. The original pack had been sent to a friend in the US to bring back as luggage, but TKS made no objection to sending the replacement to the UK.:)

The return package arrived without hassle and I wasn't charged for the postage from the US.

While the Micarta was just what I wanted, the stabilised wood wasn't as good as what I have got used to when ordering from WSSI. Guess that with natural materials like that it is always a bit of a risk to purchase sight unseen, I knew that and wanted to see what their stabilized stuff was like.

I have previously ordered bolts, drills, pins, guard material and some other bits and pieces from them and have had no problem and been happy about everything but the international shipping rate :p:D

I have ordered from them and never had any problem, I even thought the shipping was quick.
