Texas Knife Makers Supply

I've ordered from them twice. The first order went just fine. The second order I placed with them was for 8 aluminum corby bolts and they sent me a different size than I ordered. After talking to them on the phone about the problem they promptly sent out another set of corbys that were the wrong size. The third go-around they managed to get me the correct bolts.

No problems with Texas Knifemakers on maybe a half-dozen or more orders in recent years, mainly for small quantities of 440C. Good service also from Knifekits for some kits for grandkids who seemed pleased with them at Christmas. Good service from Admiral.

USAKnifemaker is by far the fastest online dealer I've ever dealt with. It's almost spooky.

TKS... I've had both good and not-so-good experiences with them. It's best to call and make sure they have what you want in stock. Some stuff I've ordered was on backorder so long I gave up. (they didn't charge me for it or anything shady like like that). The Paragon HT oven I ordered thru them they did charge me for, and it took FOREVER (several months as I recall) but to be fair, they said on the website it was a drop-ship item, so the problem may have been on Paragon's end.

In short, I go to USA first and if they don't have what I'm looking for, TKS is no longer next on my list.

I have used TKS alot over the last 8 years, and have had good and less than good service, but it was always taken care of. The last time they did seem to have an attitude though. Pops, and Jantz are top on my list, never tried Tracy yet but plan to.

Try Jantz supply, I've never had a problem with them and their catalog has a good variety of blade blanks too.
Another place that gives excellent service is USA Knifemakers Supply, they do a great job at getting your order out the door and sending what you ordered. Not sure about the selection of blanks he carries though.

I ordered 8 sheathes on 5/13/10, I specifically ask if they had that many in stock, they say no problem. Yesterday the order comes in and low and behold only 6 sheathes were shipped. These are for knives that are being given for the groomsmen at a wedding next Saturday. I now have to call TKS and have them overnight 2 sheaths so I can get them fitted and dried by Thursday of next week. Like someone else said I only deal with them when I HAVE to.

USA Knifemaker is great to deal with. I can't say I have had any problems with Texas Knifemakers but then they are in town so I just go to the back and pull what I want myself.

I've had a couple of real screw ups from texas knifemaker's supply, including one stainless blade that was hardened but not tempered, shattered like glass.

I will not deal with them anymore, period.

It seems service is kind of a variable with most vendors, I have only had very good service and shipping from TKS but other suppliers that have been recommended on BF have been good, bad and ugly. I will admit that Tracy at USA Knifemakers Supply is pretty much perfect all the time.

Never had any vendor not make the order right after contact so all is good

Well, they got the order wrong AGAIN!

The packing slip states exactly what I wanted, but the items received sure don't reflect it! Looks like they need a lesson in QC.

I just ordered from Jantz.

We shall see how it goes when I call TKS tomorrow...

One thing I'll say positively about them......they are always nice to help fix the problem the first, second, or heck even the third time they get it wrong....lol.
They NEVER screw my order up.......unless its important that I get what I need quickly and accurately.

Ive had bad luck with TKS also.Jantz is good and fast.Knifekits recently helped me out greatly on some activator i needed badly.Paid thurs evening, received sat.

I've ordered from them twice. They screwed up one order and would not acknowledge my complaint. Luckily I was only out $2.35. The next time I ordered they got it right. Still, that's likely the last time I'll order from TKS. The thing I needed most from them was stabilized wood, but since I found a local source of unstabilized wood and WSSI to do the stabilization, I have a large supply on hand. Since I can't trust TKS, I'll be looking for other sources for the small stuff I need (like Corby bolts).

Pity... I really like doing business with Texas folks. They are usually so friendly and helpful.

I'll throw in North Coast Knives as a good supplier as well. I order handle material from them and have been very pleased.

I have always got what I wanted I thought it to be a little slow.

Well I changed my mind got wrong Items 2 orders in a row , they did fix it all and were nice about it.
Jantz and usaknifemakersupply have never messed an order up

Alot of folks on BF have had bad experiences with Texas Knifemakers Supply. Though I can't attest to that, I will tell you Jantz is great. I think the website is www.knifemaking.com They have a pretty decent selection, especially their handle material (micarta, G10, dymondwood, exotic woods though I'd prefer to pick the wood rather than have someone randomly pick up a piece from a pile). The only problem I have with them is their minuscule selection of carbon steels. Shipping is fast. I can't really comment on their customer service since i've never had any problems with anything i bought from them. all in all, pretty darn good. they've got mostly everything you're going to need in the ways of supplies.
