TGLB flex....

I dont want to rain on anyone parade but flexibility is mostly a function of geometry not heat treat or steel type.

Edward Braun who is a metallurgist working for New Jersey Steel Baron has demonstrated this many times included this 63+HRC 1095 in this video.

Thing is the these are not thin blades we are talking about. These are thick chunks of steel.

While the thickness of the Scrapizashi on the previous video is not as thin, it does significantly longer than this 1095 machete. The length of the blade is directly relate to the flex tho. The hardness also much lower and it does take some set after 180 degree bend while this plain 1095 machete is not even after several 180 bending in counter direction. Keep in mind this machete is just plain 1095 that hardened with just a short tempering at 400F so this is not count as a completed HT.

The flex of TGLB on the first post is not very impressive for me. I have seen thicker knife at higher hardness flex at higher degree many times before.

Sure some steel will break sooner or wont spring back if the heat treat is really bad or without HT at all but again flexibility is not really a proper way to prove the quality of steel.

The American Bladesmith Society (ABS) requires a bending flex test for your "Journeyman" test to prove the quality of the steel and the quality of your Bladesmithing Skill....

Love flexy time! Here's a piece of flooded gum flexing 5/16ths of ASHBM. Very cool!!

Thank you to all that have responded. Like I said......the pics really don't do it justice, but it was bent pretty well from looking at it in real time (whatever that means!). Either way........I hope you enjoyed!
