As some of you know, I have been looking for a "hard use" survival type knife and was exploring various Busse options. I started a thread a while back asking for suggestions. Many people felt that the Basic 7 or 9 would be ideal for my purposes but very few suggested the TGLB. In fact, I got the distinct impression that the TGLB was relatively unpopular (at least compared to many other Busse classics). Taking the suggestions into account I searched around and found myself a pristine unused Basic 7. When it finally arrived I was a little surprised and disappointed with it's "clunky" feel and ending up selling it. I continued to look at every option out there in past Busse models and ended up just deciding to go with a TGLB (as a good all purpose "introduction" to Busse). After the Basic 7 I was half expecting to be disappointed. Happily, I was quite surprised and thrilled by what I found when it arrived. I LOVE it! It feels great in hand, isn't too heavy and is is very well designed. The top guard is something that many people seem to have a problem with and, contrary to what others have claimed, I do not find that it impedes one's ability to choke up on the blade in any significant way. On the other hand it provides significant added safey for thrust attacks and as a blade catcher. I'm quite frankly a little surprised by the fact that this knife isn't more popular.

It has a definitely following. I absolutely LOVE mine. It's one of my permanent keepers.

Oh, and just for the record, POIDH

I'm glad to hear you like it, I know it wasn't an easy decision.
Any pics? Color combo?

My TG should be coming tomorrow or early next week. It will be my first Busse. Can't wait:D

I got the tanker grey blade with black canvas micarta handle. I'll post a pic or two this evening.

BTW, anyone know who the best Busse sharpener is? (mine wasn't all that sharp).

Pics or it didnt happen

The comp finish has me seeing it in a hole new light

I seriously considered the comp myself but decided that, in the rainforest type climate of British Columbia, I didn't want to risk moisture trapped under the scales causing corrosion. (might be a non issue but that was my thinking).

Congrats. I'd love to see some pics as well. Tanker/Black Canvas was in the running for me as well as that's a great combo!!

The TGLB is a very practical blade if you can have only one... and while i haven't abused mine a lot yet, it's comfortable, fast to wield, and Busse.

What more can i say, it's a great SUB (sport utility blade)

You chose well.

And, just cause i like showing pics...

How long did it take?

I placed an order a few weeks ago and I'm busy watching the clock. I called my order in, so I don't have any confirmation email or letter that I can refer back to to see when they said it would arrive. Of course, since I'm impatient, I'm now panicking that somehow my order was lost or eaten by monsters.

Mine took 6 weeks almost to the day. There's a thread here about that very subject. Emotional Support Chat.

there are dozens of posts telling order date and date received.

Don't panic until you pass 8 weeks, then panic a little, then calm back down, and call Lexi at the shop... she'll set ya straight :)

Mine took about 7 weeks but, in all honesty, I wasn't paying that much attention because I really wasn't expecting much (after the Basic 7).

Ps. The customer support staff is really very helpful and if you call to check up I'm sure they won't mind (I think they get that sort of thing all the time and are used to people obsessing about their purchase).

yea, but what did you get the TGLB to wear? It is nekked, and should have some clothing.

If that question is directed at me I have ordered an Azwelke taco style Kydex sheath. There are lots of custom Kydex sheath makers but Al is super helpful and prompt so I went with him.

Glad to hear you got a knife you are happy with. I am certainly glad I have that Basic 7 of yours (along with a TGLB of my own). So congratulations to both of us!
