Well the inept USPS (United States Postal $HITHEADS)delivered my FU@%!#G package to someone else on Thursday and I have no idea who. It was delivery confirmed but not to my house. I had three Busse's in there and one I have been especially waiting for, a Mr. MoFo (see attached pic). Can someone please help me with a fair current value of a MINT Mr. MoFo as I got it in a trade and I need to know. I will not be able to find out until tomorrow or monday who actually signed for it. Any suggestions? Unfortunately it was not insured by the shipper.

Here are some more pics of the FSH w/sheath and the HG55 in case anyone comes across them in any forum or site for sale. I know the HG55's are many but maybe the unique markings on the camo can be distinguished from others.

Thanks everyone!

It was delivery confirmation or signature confirmation? Unfortunately if it is just delivery confirmation it need no sig so the doorstep qualifies. Hopefully it required a signature so you can track it down. Best of luck.

Sucks, man. Experience has taught me that anything mailed uninsured will be stolen.... er... or delivered open with no contents.

Good luck... hope it works out. Can't wait till the government runs our healthcare.

man, that is such a bummer. hope this story gets a surprise, positive twist.

good luck.

Sounds like its time to tear your local postmaster a new ass they will find it for you,im sure the same mail carrier delivers your mail daily and runs the same route?best of luck, id be headed to the p/o early mondy morn

DC is basically useless unless you do it online which has the benefit of saving the address, so you at least know where it went. I recommend finding out immediately who the mail carrier was, because they will probably have a memory of where it went. I had a package get miss-delivered a few months ago and figure I could have gotten it back if I hadn't waited over a month to contact the post office. With any luck the post office will be able to put you directly in contact with the mail carrier, and then he will remember where it went, and one or both of you can go over there and get it back.

That's based on my experience anyway. All the mail guys I've dealt with have been nice guys and really happy to help, so hopefully it was just an honest mistake and you can get it taken care of. It is definitely worth insuring anything over $100 or so (or $200 at least) though, and getting tracking, because then it mysteriously never goes missing in the first place. Maybe you should take it up with the shipper? Good luck in any case bro.

Well the inept USPS (United States Postal SHITHEADS)delivered my FU@%!#G package to someone else on Thursday and I have no idea who. It was delivery confirmed but not to my house.

First of all, let me thank you for your appreciation of the efforts of all three-quarters of a million Postal Service employees, each of whom is trained and dedicated to making you personally unhappy. :(

I do not understand you guys. You routinely mail packages valued at hundreds of dollars. Haven't you learned how to wrap them up, and dispatch them by the most secure means? These aren't xeroxed copies of your Mom's oatmeal cookie recipes.

Use Express Mail or Registered Mail. Going by my own unblemished success using USPS Priority or UPS, they both should be OK. But bad things do happen to good people.

Insure, insure, insure! Use expedited and signature-required mail!

Thank you.

Three Busses and shipped Uninsured? No Busse should ship uninsured.

You may be out of luck.

This is the best advice. I have bought and sold numerous Busse's and other expensive knives and the only time I even had a minor problem was when the seller who sent me the knife did not insure it. It was delivered to the wrong address and fortunately the fine folks at the PO tracked it down and I now have that knife sitting in my safe. Delivery Confirmation is fine if you insure it as well. That requires a signature and the address where it was delivered. I have also spoken to Amy once about this and if I remember correctly she said that in all the years she has worked for Busse they have shipped via USPS and during that time she can count on one hand the number of times there was a problem.

My advice for your situation now is the same I received before. Stay calm, be patient and make a visit to the PO first thing in the morning. If you are nice and reasonable to the person behind the counter, they will go out of their way to help you get what's yours. Good luck, I hope you get them back.

Thanks everyone. For the record I have always shipped my Busse's fully insured with signature confirmation to any buyer. The one time I didn't is when my personal insurance would cover it fine. My guess is the usual postman was not on duty that day because he is great and goes out of his way to get me my packages. They have had many problems with his temp replacement in the past so I hope it was not him.

Positive musings and good advice! I hope you get your investment or cash back.

Think postively.

Honest people are out there.

Whoever got the package will get it back to the post office first of the week.

Worth shouting & repeating.

Personally, I've had decent success with Priority for CONUS, but insurance on EVERY package- no exceptions, and recently also decided that it's worth the minor increase for sig confirmation, as well as upgrading to Express Mail Intl, insured for every package headed out of the States.

If you want to go the extra step, place a second shipping label on the wrapped up knife inside the shipping box just in case and in the unlikely event that the knife becomes separated from the box.

I thought I invented that!

Generally, I wrap em up in paper and saran wrap just like Amy-0 does it, but include my contact info under the wrap, then box em up well enough that there is not 'rattle' in the box.

I've learned the hard way that everything valuable must be shipped insured. The postman tells me, and maybe the good mod ESAV could verify, that insured packages require each postal worker to sign for the package, adding well needed accountability. Incidentally, I was told that this also adds a day or two to the deliver time... FWIW. ;)

Hope you have a good resolution to this matter... it's a horrible thing to be sure. :grumpy:

On the advice front I suspect that sending something tracked and insured still is'nt a guarantee for successful delivery .... but I am keeping my fingers crossed that a parcel heading out to me might still turn up.... it was sent international post and given a tracking number .... but still appears to have gone "missing" allowing for the time expired.

Registered Mail gets a signature from every person who handles it from the accepting clerk at the lobby window to the recipient when it's delivered. Absolutely the surest way to track who had it last.

I'm experiencing a similar situation. There's still a little time allowed on the package, but I sent 2 Intl. packages at the same time early last week... 1 to Austria and the other to Israel. Both left the States at the same time, yet while the package to Austria has already cleared customs there, the one in transit to Israel has yet to arrive.
