Thank USPS

Does that include Jerry and Skunk? Because none of the dozens of knives I've bought directly from Busse or from the Company Store have been insured, and up until very recently none were even sent certified or delivery confirmation. (My last purchase from BCK might have been sent certified, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't insured.)

Ever since my first Busse delivery where $1000 of knives where left in my mailbox out on the street I've requested "full insurance with signature required." They will do it, but it does cost a lot more. I almost choked when I saw that big package sticking out of the mailbox just waiting for some punk to drive by and grab it (which as happened...).

Experience has taught me the hard way to ALWAYS insure and require a signature either coming and going. No exceptions.

That goes for UPS or FedEx as well. I actually have better results with USPS because they come to me daily for mail delivery. UPS/FE percentage wise deliver to the wrong address more often. Can't tell you how many calls to them ended with "our records show that it was delivered"...yeah to a different street. I've gotten stuff for other people, and sometimes it takes several days to get a pick-up for redelivery. I usually just drive it over myself. Best one was I get somebody else's frozen Omaha steaks and UPS said 3-4 days before they could send a driver to get them. Haven't been so lucky on the other end. Some a-hole sat on a couple of my packages that included live paychecks from a job for over a month before letting UPS know that he had them. I can't begin to tell you what a hassle that one was.

Insure Insure Insure ... Signature Signature Signature...

That is a bit of a different situation. It is more cost effective for a manufacturer like Busse to self insure. I bet they only occasionally have an issue, and for the most part, they can make another and ship if it gets lost.

I, my self, Can't eat a 1000 loss, let alone a 200 loss.

No, they can afford to replace them if lost and they will. :D

Most people can't afford to take a $1000 hit. :)
