Thank you pertinux

... In the midst of one of the most stressful seasons I've known, at a time when I regret having so little resource from which to draw for most of my 'real' life (let alone more time here in this midst, where virtual community is continually made Real), it's deeply gratifying to be part of something hitting the spot for someone else.

Plus, it was just plain all-out fun, getting to send this top-shelf knife to a top-shelf knife lover.

Sorry to hear it's a stressful time for you. I find myself thinking "Once I get through this _____, I'll have a chance to take some time and enjoy myself." Whether it's school or work or family crises, as they say, it's always something, so you have to take the little joys where you can. For me right now, it's having this treasure in my pocket throughout the day.

Apparently I'm one who didn't recognize the reference (and I'm old enough to know better)! I thought Rachel was expressing her heartfelt longings in her own words. My daughter, who loved reading Of Mice and Men, would be so disappointed in me. Fortunately, Dave's comment helped me learn how out of touch I am. Here's a link that educated me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Of_Mice_and_Men_in_popular_culture

The longings were heartfelt, but the quote was from the Bugs Bunny cartoon.
It wasn't until I read Of Mice And Men in high school that I really got the "Tell me about the rabbits, George" jokes. Kind of dark if you really think about it. :)

I was as excited for this package to reach r8shell as I've ever been for an expected knife to reach me.

Know right where you are on that Sarah - I get excited when sending a knife and probably watch the tracking closer than when getting a knife.:D

Once again - an outstanding gift !!!:thumbup::)

And I thought I was a bit strange for doing that! I love giving away a knife so much, I find myself checking the tracking every few hours to see how the trip is going, and how close it is to the end goal.

What an outstanding and highly-desirable gift--those ebony Charlows are getting to be as rare as hens' teeth. But as desirable as it is, the knife itself is not so outstanding as the friendship that such a wonderful gift underscores. What a great token of friendship! I wonder who is happier over this, Sarah the giver, or Rachel the receiver? Well done!!

That's what you call "instant karma" milady.

Hope thangs stabilize soon. I know you've got what it takes.

Well, I'll be.

For all my almost-life-long love of Steinbeck, and even longer appreciation for "George" and his affection (courtesy of Loony Tunes, and regularly worked into ongoing banter), I never never ever made the connection.

Until now.

Er, Thanks!

Hope thangs stabilize soon. I know you've got what it takes.

Thank you. That means a lot, all of a sudden.

-- Knowing the knife hits the spot for Rachel is more than enough for me, but wait, what's this?

Pressies!

I recently received a note from Rachel with these meaningful inclusions.

She referred to them as 'trinkets'; I love me some trinketses, and am thrilled.

The pocket sheath is perfect for my needs, keeping my knife upright in my pocket yet readily retrievable, especially through work days.

(I shan't display my own attempt at the same, from a few months back. :o)

I don't know what the knot is called, but I like it.

Kewl.

I remain helpless in the face of all things (anything!) owl. So this, of course, is the pièce de résistance (here shown with a glimpse of my superb owl-on-chain from Jack):

Thoughtful gifts, all.

Thank you so much, Rachel!

How did I miss this thread - until this partly sunny, warm (20C - 70F) Sunday??

Makes my heart warm and sunny!!

May you enjoy yourself, the pleasure you spread around here Sarah!

Excellent trinketses P! :) I am also the very proud owner of one of r8shell's generously gifted pocket-sheaths, and it's a great design very well executed :)

Thank you! Somehow, your admission makes me feel a little bit better, knowing that I wasn't the only connectionless one; how selfish is that?;)
