Thanks for everyone who replied to this thread. For those who want to do the reading and research I will post the facts as I see them below. I will not give the name of the seller as many of you requested but I am going to assume with some research you can figure it out since many of you feel strongly about it. My goal is not to create drama therefore I will be closing the thread to further comments. If the seller would like me to respond directly to him publicly, I will do so only if he starts a thread and invites me to do so. I just want this episode to be over. I have purchased the same knife from a respectable member here for the same price that is also described as Mint so I will see in a week or so if that works out. I decided to keep the knife as I simply did not want to deal with this into next week. Here are the facts.
Read add and made contact with seller. Knife was described as new and stored in safe. I tried to negotiate $25 off the price but paid the full asking price of $875 ended up paying $901 with fees and I paid immediately. Received the Knife 2 days later and immediatedly requested a refund after seeing the condition on the blade. One of the sellers responses can be found in an above post. This made me nervous. I called Paypal and they told me to only return the knife to the confirmed address on the account and the address requested by the seller was not confirmed. I requested that the seller update his address in the system and received the following email from him:
"Look pal, it's turkey day and I'm trying to spend the day with loved ones. I have moved since I started PayPal account. Either send to the address I gave you or the return address on the package. Those are only two good addresses for me. You can check my feed back in bf. It's clean, no bad reviews! I have no reason to dick you around. Don't make this difficult, just ship back the knife, and I'll refund the pay pal. That simple."
On Saturday I receive this email from him:
Hello sir, were you able to get the returned knife into the mail yet? Just wanna know to keep an eye out... If so a tracking number would be nice. I'll refund money as soon as I have knife in my hands. If you keep collecting knives and meeting people on BF and USN you will learn it is a very small community! It will surprise you just how close nit we are. It would be very foolish to rip anyone off or put a bad taste in anyone's mouth because you never know who else your pissing off because of it.... See where I'm going with this....? Anyway, like I said send me a tracking, and we will return your money so u can go pay for another knife.
I decided not to deal with this person anymore and cut my losses. My thoughts were at least I have the knife. If I ship the knife to the address that is on the paypal account he surely won't get it only complicating the situation. He has my money but at least I have a knife that is not floating around in the postal system. Although I don't like drama I am not easily intimidated so I decided to make this post before I closed this chapter. Anyhow this is how I responded:
"I will keep the knife. I never heard back from paypal yesterday as to the address they wanted me to send it back to and I am over all the drama. I won't have time this week to get down to the post office anyhow. I have already purchased the same knife that is supposedly brand new so I will give this knife to a buddy of mine for Christmas. It was never about the money or pissing anyone off. I am not in the knife business and I was just looking for something to have around the house and enjoy. I would imagine if you did a knife deal and the knife you expected to be new was not, you would be concerned as well. If you are pissed of, or have a bad taste in your mouth I have no idea as to why. As to the tone this has taken, it really not my thing. Anyways I will consider this matter over. Have a nice holiday and good luck collecting."
I did purchase the same knife that is brand new from $950 shipped from Europe so I am hoping I will be happy in a week. So I got a bad deal on a knife, no biggie. Its actually not that terrible of a deal so I will consider it a cheap learning experience. Like I said I am not here to cause any issues, just to do research and maybe pick up a knife or two. As I mentioned to the seller, I consider this matter over
Here are pics of the knife I received, I feel that I can post them as it is now my knife:
