That Darn Manix

Story time!

I'm sitting on the bus, waiting for my stop. I look down into the seat in front of me, and what do I see in the space between the arm rest and the seat? A Manix! I picked it up and opened it. No visible wear, and in fact it looked mint except for a small scuff on the pocket clip. Well-oiled and a sharp sucker. I played with it, contemplating taking it home with me. I tried to act like I had just lost my $100 pocket knife, and what was right. So the Manix ended up in the Lost and Found at the bus terminal at Government Square.

Now that I'm home, I want that Manix! A peek at Spyderco's website says that the model is discontinued http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=165
So I guess I have to get one ASAP. Sometimes doing the right thing makes me jealous.

I applaud your fine character. As a confirmed Spyderholic, I don't think I could resist temptation as well as you.

The foliage green Manix is one of the handsomest knives Mr. Glesser has ever offered. It's worth the effort to find one.

Props to the man! The universe will remember such an act kind sir and repay you accordingly! (although IT was a Manix. . . )

JN,
Good job on the return. I have a question, are you sure it was a manix. the manix and 83/80mm mini-manix are both well built substantial blades. I doubt I could tell unless I measured the blade length or had them side by side. If you're interested in trying a CE mini for a while drop me an email.

Didn't someone say "integrity is being good when no one is watching" ;)

This might make me a bad person, but I would have put the Manix in my pocket and kept on going. No way could I have brought myself to turn it over to Lost and Found...especially since somone there probably just turned around and took it home.

You could have taken it home, and left a note in the lost and found box, saying " if you lost a knife on such and such a bus line on such and such a day, call me at this number, and describe the knife. Then we can meet and I'll hand it over". That way, you get the knife if nobody claims it, and the jerkoffs at lost and found don't get to grab it. And you'd be pretty sure when the owner calls you. After all, how many people know the Manix, and can describe it? You'd have to be a true knife knut, like us. That's what I'd do, anyway.

I wish whoever found my SS Endura 2 in the bathroom of the Barns and Noble where I left it was as ethical as you were.

But I ended up upgrading, so it had a happy ending after all.

Just think, there some happy little worker at the terminal walking around with a Manix in his pocket :D Ok......

You did the right thing. Now reward yourself by buying yourself a manix ;)

You're a good man in my books :) Don't know how many people would've done the right thing instead of falling to the temptation... and that Manix is one heck of a temptation!

Thanks for not taking it...I picked up in the lost & found today! Just kidding! Nice job on being honest! I'm sure you will be rewarded in the long run!

There's an old saying that I have found to be true time and time again....

"no good deed goes unpunished".

And this is also a perfect example of why pocket-clips will never totally replace belt pouches.

Recently I went to the playground with my kids and while playing around I dropped my LE SS Delica. I realized it was missing when I got home. I ran back to the park to find 2 teenage boys playing with my knife. As I approached them after searching the benches one boy asked if I lost a knife and I said yes I did, a Spyderco. He then handed me my knife and said it was a sweet blade. I said thanks and handed him a 10 spot for finding it and being honest.

Speaking of the manix,I just sent my manix, and mini manix to be fitted for some formal leather wear made by by G2.I haven't carried either so far.
