That Darned Kitchen Table Again!

Happy memories my friend, and that is a lovely watch :) I have a couple of grandfather's Smiths pocket-watches too, but they are only of mediocre quality in comparison. I'll see if I can find a photo of either of them

I know them very well, I bought a few , on behalf of the "BritishClassic Car and Rover Club" , t'was an award for the tear's meber.
They were called miner's watch, not because factory was in Wales, but because they tick so loudly they would put a mechanic Chinese alarm clock! They were like the auntie Rover : overengineered.

I sold a few Smiths watches to raise funds to buy knives. But that one is a keeper, maybe to one of my grand daaughter if interested.

LOL! :D Yes, those pocket watches do have a loud tick for sure! :D

Legend says it was for the miners to find their way in the dark, guided by the ticking! I would not bet on that...

My great grandfather on that side of the family was a miner, so maybe it was his! :D

Earl? No idea mate, he's not with me (never has).. hope he's not lost on his journey though!

Earl is in Scotland Sam, I just wondered if you'd heard from Paul (PMEW). I'll drop him a line

I've got some table-clearing to do, too. Three Boker USAs, plus one Boker Solingen (the little pen). Maybe by the end of the weekend they'll be in usable condition.

Wow r8shell, a very nice Boker quartet! :)

You set a good table, Jack. I'm always impressed by your skill at ferreting out neat knives and by your knowledge of knifeology.
