That one elusive knife.

My retailer had a Hinderer XM-24 in O1 steel and wood handles looooong after every other outlet had sold out. By the time my pennies were saved, it vanished. Still haven't gotten over that one.

The original Spyderco Slysz Bowie and a Spyderco Szabofly at a "reasonable price" are the one that still evades me but I can live w/o them. ;)

I'm casually keeping an eye out for a Spyderco K2 at a reasonable price, but like yourself, it's something I can probably live without.... especially since I came across a Farid Mini K2 😁

Marzitelli Big Snarly J, His knives almost never come up. I bought the only one (A megalodon) that I've seen on eBay, but I keep hoping.

For me it was the Microtech Socom. I opted for a CRK Inkosi when there were abundant Socoms thinking it would last. By the time I got around to buying one they were nowhere to be found at EU retailers. I doubled down on my efforts this year literally stalking Coutelerie Tourangelle's site (my IP probably made up 1/3 of their traffic lol) Saw one in stock several times, got to the checkout page, by the time I entered my payment info someone else had snagged it. I finally managed to cop one a few weeks ago, now I reckon the MSI is gonna be the same story. If anyone knows any other EU based vendors that stock Microtech knives regularly, I'd be very happy. At this point I have a dedicated monitor for stalking CT and Lamnia.

Me too. And usually with me it’s more of a money issue lol..
But honestly I have enough knives for a few lifetimes, so these days when I want something bad enough I will sell something else to get it.

funny you mention the Quantum, as that was one of my grails at one point (a PJ Gen 1), but I “settled” for a Quantum Ursus. It’s still one of my favorites in my collection, it’s a perfect knife really.

The Ursus is a gorgeous knife, but for me it comes down to the lack of a backspacer. Funny as it sounds, I have a thing for backspacers, and usually if a knife doesn’t have one it doesn’t stay in the collection. Actually just sold an Imamba for that reason… I’ve never handled a Gen 1, but the Quantum model in general has my heart.

A left handed Grimsmo Norseman. I know a very small number exist. But they almost never pop up for sale. I would really, really love to have one.

Hey we all have our preferences I get it. The backspacers on the regular quantum models are gorgeous, as are those fullers on the blade

I feel kinda lucky at the moment - there’s nothing left on my grail list that I haven't gotten. There have been a few near-misses, but they either eventually showed up on one of the retailers’ sites or here in the exchange. The one thing I would want that I don’t have, they don’t make - an iMamba flipper with an Insingo-like blade. But I do have several similar but more budget-friendly models in the drawer to scratch that itch. Now I need to seriously curb my knife spending if I’m to have any hope of retiring while I’m still breathing.

Buck 830 Marksman. The few times I see them pop up in the exchange, I’m either a day late or a dollar short. I’m holding out hope they’ll re-release it into the edc lineup. They seem to make a BOTM version every so often, so I’m still holding out hope for a NIB example but would love a used one.
