That one elusive knife.

A Large WC Starbenza 21. I bought one and returned it seven years ago and regret it. Not willing to fork out the outrageous secondary prices on them

For me it is the Shirogorov Terrus. Missed the original sale at R1 - sold out very quickly. There were a few that popped up on the exchange but I missed them. Figured there would be a few people letting them go later but haven’t seen any on the exchange in a while and it has turned into unobtainium for me.

Ever had a knife that you keep trying to obtain, but somehow always gives you the slip? For me it’s the dastardly Scrapyard Son of Dogfather. Any one got a knife they’ve been chasing for a long spell while failing miserably to get ahold of?

Yes, but if I tell you, then you'll be looking for it, and we can't have that. So it remains a secret.

I sold a Greg Lightfoot 459 Magnum folder years ago on JD. Full carbon fiber scales on both sides. Beautiful knife, but I had a house to buy. If anyone has seen it… :)

I'm not going to spill the beans! One of you would snag it after saying 'look over there!' The trickery and theft would hurt my feelings.

Which is why this thread isn't 50 pages long by now. No way is anyone going to mention knife others would want. The minute you do, half the forum will be googling that blade and likely snag any example that pops up.

But I will play the, "hey, I sold a knife sometime back and would love it back" game

The bottom one in this pic. How about it. You wanna sell it back to me?

Did you open up that lanyard hole?

Case Bose Wilfred hunter in brown bone. I'd take one in other covers, but I keep missing them...

My retailer had a Hinderer XM-24 in O1 steel and wood handles looooong after every other outlet had sold out. By the time my pennies were saved, it vanished. Still haven't gotten over that one.
I wish that I had a few more of these vintage ones, but I enjoy the one that I do have. Been looking out for a Bowie, I've let a couple slip by and it is sorta haunting me lolIMG_20240221_104755050~2.jpg

I’ve been on the hunt for a black on black SOD for years! I do like the OG Dogfather, but I get more use out of my 7” blades over my 9-10” blades (except for the BK9).
Can’t believe I didn’t update this when the grail landed courtesy of an excellent BF member Eric ironwagon ironwagon !

I'd still like to add a ZT 0454,

iu

a ZT 0777 &

iu

a Spyderco Szabofly to my collection.

I've had the opportunity to buy each of them but was never willing to pay the asking price for them. 🤷

------------------------------------

I also once own a MUDD Auto (that I traded away for a bali that I still own) that I'd like to own again but I haven't seen another one for sale since I traded the other 1 away but I doubt I'd willing to pay the current asking price for it, even if I did.🤷

Update 07/08/2024:

I bought a ZT 0777 in March 2024. It wasn't the 2 toned version which is more expensive but the single toned version that still cost me more than any other knife that I've purchased to date.

I've reconsidered & have decided that I don't really like the looks of the 0454. So, I'm not going to buy one of those but I'd still like to buy a Szabofly. The only problem is the cost. I've got my eye on 1 but it'll cost 2x's the 0777 and I really don't want to pay that much. Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

Mine is a WWII USMC-marked Robeson Shuredge Mark II knife. They are by far the most rare of all Mark II's.

I had one a few decades back, but tight times made it necessary to sell it. I have a really nice showcase set aside, just in case.... 🤞
