When I took lunch, I went into the shop to pour the pewter nose on the Bowie.

For those of you that have not done it, you wrap a few layers of masking tape around the end of the handle so the pour will be oversize, take some light cardboard (File folder) and form a cone around the end of the handle and the area you want the pour to go. Wrap the cardboard with masking tape and pour. (simple version of instruction)

One thing you need to do is cinch it tight around the handle so the molten pewter won't run through.

Well....this one didn't want to cinch so I got out the duct tape and did one wrap. I then pulled like hell on the roll of duct tape with one hand and the knife handle with the blade sticking up, with the other.

The damn duct tape broke. Thankfully I hadn't finished sharpening it yet so It only cut to the bone and not through it. :D

I had cut a big gash from my hairline down to the side of my nose....

Damnit....I had pewter cooking, work to do this afternoon and no time to fool around. I couldn't ignore it because I kept getting blood in my eye.

Superglue....It wouldn't hold. Every time I raised my eyebrow, it tore loose. Super glue and duct tape did the job......

I did the pour and it was very good. Then the problem started.

I went back to work and my wife came in........It's gonna be a long day!

You're going to get some strange looks when you explain that one to people! :D

If I were you I'd make something up....got it when tossed out of the local brothel or something. :p

Glad it wasn't worse.

is it me or do we have a rash of injuries being posted...this isn't a contest guys!! :D

That's just knifemaking Tom....although, this is my first head cut!

Now you gotta come up with a good story for it. Something along the lines of getting in a fight with a new age, safety minded, biker gang that wore helmets, and having to headbutt the leader who was kicking your guts in while his buddies held your arms :D

Hope it heals up quick and doesn't bother you too much. I don't even worry about scars any more as long as stuff still functions once its healed, I'm already an ugly son of a gun :)

This really is not your day, Don. My advice is to get thee a bottle of fine bourbon and enjoy it until this day passes.

At least you didn't have to scramble around looking for your nose somewhere. Damn lucky Don. Glad your okay .

Ah, the old duelling scar; gets the ladies everytime. ;)
I'm glad you're ok.
Regards,
Greg

Well we can't call you scarface (Thats already taken) How about scar forehead. Nah!!! That does sound right. How about !!!!!PECKERHEADhehehe!!!
PS: Glad that you are OK or whatever is normal to you????? ;) :D

Wow. Glad it was not worse. Your new name could have been one eye. Take care of that so maybe it will only be a big nasty scar... ;) .

Here in this part of the world they might say you look like someone said shut up and you thought they said get up.

jeeeeeeeeeeeez.......OUCH! :footinmou
glad it wasn't any worse.....tho it doesn't exactly sound good either! :p

Owch  that must have hurt, people will think. Hope ya heal up fast and well (not too much scar, etc.).

Just say it is an old knife wound and leave it there. Peeling the scab a couple of times will help the scar stand out. .. ..Hey it is there hiding it wont work might as well show it off. Battle wounds and all that.

Any one that superglues AND duct tapes their split open forehead so they can finish the job they are working on is something only a knife maker could brag about. And then you post a picture to boot....:D
It'll probably improve your looks though.
