That's it, I'm done with KnifeCenter.

The last time I ordered from KnifeCenter it was a total trainwreck. It's been awhile though, so I thought I would give them another chance to see if they got their shipping issues sorted out. Surprise, surprise... They haven't.

I ordered a 17" x 11" Prometheus Design Werx benchtop mat just recently KnifeCenter and (much like with the hat I ordered) they decided it would be a great idea to ship it in a 9" x 6" x 3" box. Needless to say, it's completely ruined.

At this point I'm done with KnifeCenter. They just can't seem to get their problems figured out.

And here's the hat I ordered from them (the replacement they sent me didn't look much better either).

The replacement mat arrived, as well as a little bonus gift. :)

Sorry to hear you had another bad experience, Brian. Thanks for giving others a heads up so they don't have to go through the same pain as you did (again).

It's a bummer, but overall no biggie. :)

It'll serve as a nice reminder why I stick with dealers like DLT, KSF, CK, etc (assuming they have stock).

On the plus side, Kristin from KnifeCenter has been phenomenal and deserves a shout out. :)

How is the mat packaged? Could they reasonably have known it was screwed up?

It just had a clear cellophane wrapper. The damage was definitely caused by whoever packaged the mat at KnifeCenter. The mat was just crammed into the box and the cracks are all in spots where the mat was folded/balled up. :/

Yeah, then I think its fair to criticize Knife-Center. I've gotten broken items in the past where the vendor had no way to know (e.g. sealed box).

I haven’t had this particular experience with them but their “forever on preorder” thing has turned me off of them, had one particular knife on pre order for over two years before throwing in the towel and canceling, not a fan of that system at all.

Two years?! Wow. I had the Spyie Ten. S35VN version on pre-order for about 2 weeks, then canceled.

Wow that is a terrible experience and with two damaged items in a row I’d be hesitant to spend any money with them as well. I spend a fair amount of money these days with online vendors and can honestly say that this might make me think twice about ordering from knife center in the future…. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Fixall Fixall its not exactly my place to do so but I’d like to see this quoted in their recent(Today) thread advertising Free Shipping.

I know, that’s why I didn’t do it.

Had it happened to me, I just might have been in the right mood to do it though.

Thanks for the heads up, at least now, I’ll know what not to order from them.
Exactly. I've bought from them for a few years and havent had any issues with knives. Anything not in a cube-ish box seems to confuse their packaging guys...

That’s pathetic. Internet shopping (and shipping things in boxes) isn’t new technology. That’s just poor QC. No one (who cared) bothered to check that package. Unfortunately that leaves a bad taste. Bummer. I like KC, generally.

wow....looks like some training needed there for non knife items being packed. 2 bad runs and a 3rd bad run replacement for ya. sorry youre dealing with another one. thats more than just disappointing.

i've had better luck with them but only have bought knives.
