That's it... i'm gonna start pocket-carrying

I wouldn't call it a constant problem. I've gotten my clips snagged on car doors and around corners a couple of times. It hasn't happened in a while, but I was actually considering pocket carry just the other day when my Strobe came in.

I usually pocket carry now just got in the habit since I don't like to draw attention to the fact I have a knife on me at work so now I usually just pocket carry. Sometimes I'll clip carry if it's a deep concealment clip but it all depends on the situation. As someone else said when I clip carry I do find myself just randomly patting my pocket sometimes to make sure its still there. But yea I usually pocket carry rh front with phone

Regardless of what I'm carrying, I can't help but do the "pocket pat down" every time I get up. It's just force of habit now. When it's time to go I always check for my keys, knives, wallet and phone.

The only clip I use is a waved Endura, which is generally for walks. Otherwise, they just irritate me.

I'm not rubbing my hip bone against things all day, so I've never had any prob with a clip. I can see how you workin' guys might be bending your clips, though, if you are lifting stuff, reaching, and bending all day on the job. I prefer to carry a locking blade, and many of those knives (e.g., a PM2) could easily open up in my pocket by getting snagged on all of the other stuff I carry in there. Thus the clip, which holds the blade against the back of my pocket and keeps it closed. I would prefer not to advertise that I'm carrying a knife, but most eyeballs are attracted to my handsome face and killer physique, so they never see the clip anyway.

This happened to me a year or two ago, and I haven't used pocket clips since.. That and I normally carry a slip joint!

I don't know what the hell you guys are doing. I take my knife out 40 or so times a day at least working and the only time I remember bending a pocket clip is walking through a doorway at home. I could never go without it. Too much muscle memory of always pulling out from the back edge of the pocket. I've gotten too quick with it with certain knives to to anything else. It just works too well. Also I generally carry either a Benchmade 710 or a Spyderco Manix 2 XL. So, with the way I disengage the lock, it would be relearning a whole new way to close the knife.

I don't need to get to my knife in a hurry, I don't want to advertise to anyone that I'm carrying a knife, and I don't want to lose it. So no pocket clips for me either. That restricts the amount of weight I'm willing to carry at the bottom of my pocket to no more than 4 ounces or so. But there are plenty of well-made lightweight folders available to make that a non-issue for me. And I've yet to encounter a situation where I wished I've have had a bigger knife on me. (The Spyderco Southard and the Large Carbon Fiber Sebenza are two excellent examples of the amount of knife that can be packed into 4 ounces.)

I get what you're saying however I can't relate to it. ;)

Sadly, I can. I've been told I look like a slightly less athletic Tom Cruise. My extra chins don't stop the ladies from swarming around me at the local Taco Bell. It can be frustrating at times.

Never snagged my knife clips except for one: Crkt Otenashi noh ken. It's a super flimsy clip. None my spydies tho.

I like clip carry for lots of reasons, but one of the most important is that the knife is always in the same place, orientation, etc. I've tried pocket carrying larger folders, and I can't stand the fact that they always flip around in awkward ways throughout the day and you have to reorient them all the time. With a clip, the knife stays flat against you thigh and always in the perfect place to be accessed

I have never been a pocket clip carry guy , I've always carried a knife of some kind in a belt sheath - pouch or in my pocket .
But your never to old to try something different and when I got my Seb 21 I told myself I would start fresh and use the pocket clip like everyone else seems to .
About a week into my relationship with my new CRK I came about as close to a heart attack as I ever want to get because my knife wasn't in my pocket , it was gone .
After about 4 hours of searching I found it out by the front of the property . Don't ask me how it had come out , but it had .
I've not carried a knife with a pocket clip since .
A cynical mind would suggest that they are a cunning ploy by the knife manufacturers to sell more knives .

Only time I bent a clip was on a 0560 hooking a seat belt and believe me I knew it when it sent me back into the pickup. Now I always check to make sure I'm clear when I jump out lol.

^^^ Seatbelt is my bet too, particularly if you are carrying it in your right front pocket and sitting in the driver's seat. I have a carbon fiber William Henry B12 that I carried primarily. I kept bending the clip. I would bend it back to shape and it would happen a few days later. I finally figured it out when it stuck to the seatbelt strap as I undid it.

I find the clips on my knives to be very useful. But I carry IWB with the clip behind my belt. This way the knife is out of the way of my pocket carry items, and the knife is well hidden from view. The knife does get sweaty in the summer sometimes.

I tried to carry my delica in my back pocket clipped. Half way through my shift I used a fork truck went to got off and realized I had ripped off the clip. Now it's belt sheeth carry at work for me. The rest of the time I use the clip for front pocket carry

I'm surprised at how many people here pocket carry.

I've tried to pocket carry but the knife always tips over in my pocket and ends up horizontal.
