Leather The “What’s going on in the S&F shop” thread!

Coleman I don't have anything in the works with you but know that our prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. I'm sure your wife will take good care of your physical needs and your forums brothers understand that it's something that happens to us all sooner or later.

^^^Love Seinfeld, I thought I’d seen all episodes and remembered them all, but I don’t recall that one. Guess I’ve got some binge watching to do haha.

Humor is always good for ya, especially Seinfeld 😊
I love it too! I used a Seinfeld quote with Coleman once and thought man I hope he gets this. Turned out he loves Seinfeld as well. 😁

That’s a great episode, and it’s pretty cool that you get to watch a “new” episode again after all these years! 👍

Feel better soon, Coleman. I'm sure that your friends will understand and forgive any delay.

Feel better brother.

Hope you feel better quick

Hope you get feeling better soon Coleman! Sorry to hear about your back misfortune and illness.

“ Good things come to those who wait”. I’m happy to wait.

Take care of yourself and rest up!

Take care of yourself Coleman. 🙏

Here's some humor I know you'll appreciate!

Where do I speak to a manager around here???

All joking aside, hope you get better soon brother. I know how debilitating back problems are.

I hope you're back up and feeling better soon Coleman.

Thank you guys for your well wishes! Much appreciated.

September was a banner month for me, apparently. Haha. Just one thing after another, health-wise. Last Monday was the first day I woke up feeling like I wasn’t dying. Haha. I’ve still got a little residual numbness in my face, but health wise, feeling really good! That said, I’m so happy to be getting back to the leather table this weekend and I apologize for pretty much all orders being pushed out 4/5 weeks due to September. Haha.

I will have to take a short break to clean my chimney in preparation for winter…but am I ever excited to be back at the table.

I did manage to get a bunch of templates made up, so things should move a lot quicker here at the beginning.

Again, thank you all for your patience, kindness and understanding. It is so humbling and appreciated more than words can say.

Thank you, my friends.

I’ll be posting soon!

Well, first post!

I’m not a person that likes to sit idle, so being under the weather for so long was not easy for me.

I’m not a germaphobe but I don’t like to work on customers leather projects when I’m not at full creative capacity or ill.

I decided to slowly work on a project while ill and think it turned out pretty well. I had to keep my brain ticking. Looking back, I kinda laugh that it took me 4 weeks to complete, when it should have take a day or two at most, haha…but so is life when you’re moving slowly and for short bursts of time before the next non optional nap. 🤣😂
I also found out that it is a really, really bad idea to grind, use the media blast cabinets and do anything with epoxy/ca when your lungs are not well. 🤦‍♂️

Anyways, the project was a modification/wrap of one of our absolutely talented knifemakers here on BF. I do not tag them on purpose because I would hate to offend them and their fantastic work. That said, the knife needs to be comfortable for my use, in my hand, so I mod them. :)

This one got a bit of a change in shape, a new blast, a handle wrap and a new sheath. I will post a before shot at the bottom of this post.

Ok…seriously…going to the leather table now. Coffee is drank. Wife has been hugged and told I love her…it’s leather time!!!

Ok…man it’s good to be alive and well!

Progress up to now…I have a number of sheaths/slips on the go, woohoo!! Got a bunch cut out ready for makers mark and the next steps.

I did decide to take some time to wrap another knife handle in between so it is now currently drying.

It’s time for a break…a short one though and then back at it for a few more hours.

I trust everyone’s weekend is treating them well!

I always enjoy glimpes into someone's shop.

I might have asked this before but what are you using to cut your patterns out?

I have a few different blades, but for the most part I just use a plain old utility knife.
Other blades that also see use (specialized trimming or tight cuts, etc) I use a half round leather knife from Dave Ferry or one of four detail knives I designed and had made by Josh from REK.
