Leather The “What’s going on in the S&F shop” thread!

Here is the first pocket clip slip sheath for the S CRK Sebenza…I love the character on this piece of leather. 🥰

That's a clever use of those eyelets!

I'd be curious to see what that clip slip looks like when filled. I'm fiddling with some clipless pocket slip prototypes and trying to cut down on distortion (when the slips are filled).

I like those relief cuts in your version, but I imagine you have to get them cut perfectly.

Either way, beautiful work :)

Thank you. I like the eyelets over the rivets for the most part. Gives a little character.

The relief bottom cuts do need to match up, yes. If not, the sheath becomes “twisted” and looks terrible.

When you say “full” do you mean with the knife inserted inside the slip sheath? If so…here is a L Sebenza inside the L Sebenza slip sheath.

They will become shaped to the knife though over time. With sweat and pocket pressure from sitting it will take the knife’s shape.

Thank you for your kind words. 😁

Yeah, it's difficult to find decent looking rivets that don't look cheap... especially pop rivets, which is what I see on a lot of those pocket clip style sheaths. The eyelet is a nice solution ;) and yes I meant what the sheath looked like with the knife inside, which still looks really clean. I'd imagine those relief cuts plus that extra bit of clearance on the sides of the knife goes a long way into not making the sheath look "buckled" over.

A sheath worthy of such a fine folder :)

Your works is CRISP and I appreciate your restraint. My preference is for less being more. You do that as a natural.

Thank you, Ray. Your kind words help keep me going. Much appreciated. ☺️

This weekend I will most likely take a break from leatherwork (sorry to those who are waiting). I know from experience that when the pressure is mounting, it is hard for me to come up with ideas. It can turn my hobby into a “job.”

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE making leather items for folks…especially the folks on here. It gives me great joy and pride to have people post kind words and photos of sheaths I’ve made for them.

So for today I wanted to get back into something else I like to do…mod knives. Ones that I feel need modification. (I may get at some sheath design today also, I may not be able to stay away!) haha.

Here is a project I started and finished this morning…still contemplating putting a new edge on it.

This knife of mine from Hellize was going to go to the exchange. But…after some thought on what might make it more comfortable, I am super happy with it now.

I added a choil and a handle wrap. Looking forward to taking it out camping/backpacking this summer.

That's nice Coleman. Hellize makes a heck of a slicey knife and I think - very artful.

I like your upgrades!

You staying cool and breathing good air up there? I hope you are well!

Thank you, Ray.

He does make a great knife. I own 5 of his creations at the moment…3 of them fully custom.

The issues for me, with this particular knife, was the blade to handle ratio. The handle was too short for my hands and the bulbous butt of the handle complicated the uncomfortable in hand. As with most (if not all) skeleton knives, they are so thin and do not feel “soft” in hand. I may change out the paracord for a leather wrap in the future.

Szilard (hellize) is a very kind gentleman who makes a very good knife…I’m sure this will not be my last from him. I like his “old world” artsy charm.

So far the air has been ok. I can feel it affecting my energy level and stamina. It’s not thick like other parts of Ontario. For the most part it’s been pretty clear skies.
