The 1 That Got U STARTED, AS WE KNOW THERE IS NO END

My first becker was my bk2 now stripped etched and got some wood and leather. My first Kabar was the usmc with kraton in foliage. The kabar i hand sanded the finish off and forced a patina. So first was my kabab then my bk2 then the last one i got was my bk16. I went back to tommy for the wood we got a perfect match for the bk2 and bk16. I am very happy and very addicted. My bk16 got a similar treatment stripped wood and etched. I will post up pics off my phone.

I got my first three Beckers all at the same time. A BK-2 and two BK-9's. Then I was off and running. I think I'm up to 24 Beckers now. Lots of multiples.

The bk9 was my first, but the bk15 was the one who really got me hooked...

MIGUY,

I know what you mean, I'm using the 15 for anything that doesn't require chopping. It's just right for so many tasks.

BTW, are you a MI troll or a yooper?

Started with the BK9 a few years back and have had just about all of them at one time or another. I've got just a couple of them that I use now days, BK16 and the BK14 in d2 steel. pretty much those 2 is all.

Really what got me really into knives were seeing buck knives as a kid. I really wanted one but my mom got me a cheap $15 Kmart knife instead. Not sure the brand. It was a lock back with some pretty intense jimping on it. I remember that thing always hurt my finger to close it. But I loved it anyways.

My first Becker was purchased at a shop in Knoxville that done guy named Sam worked. I was checking out this beautiful 1/4 inch hunk of steel. Well after talking to this interesting looking guy who seemed to know a whole lot about this knife, I am told he designed it. We talked for an hour and the knife went home with me. Been buying and sharing since.

Used a Kabar D2 extreme for years but wanted something a little thicker ended up buying a BK2 and a BK7. After that the appreciation for Becker knives grew and I have bought a nice variety of them, which is understandable since they are affordable, quality, well designed knives.
My BK2 and BK7 don't get used like they used to but that's because I primarily use my BK24, BK15, BK9 and BK21 (these 4 are my go to choices).

The 5 is the one that got me started, but the 15 is the one that hit me the hardest. Love my 15s so much. Pretty much all the tweeners, and the 9 and the 21.... well, and the 12 also. Plus the 14/24 is fantastic... Jeeze

I was sucked in by the lure of the 2 as well. Stayed for the folks on here, the company and the man at the helm!

Thanks folks

I was looking for an EDC fixed blade and found the BK14. I fell in love with it and it was my EDC for quite a while. One day I found a deal on a BK15 and bought it. Then I used my BK15 to bone out an Elk this year and was very impressed with it's ability to be a camp/survival knife as well as a big game processing knife. As a very, very active member of the Spyderco forum and a bit of a member on the Spyderco subforum here on BF I thought I would poke my head in here and just say thanks for the great knives. This seems like a great bunch so I am hanging around. It is not just the knives either. Ethan and BK&T are similar to Spyderco in the sense that the owner takes an active role in the forum and takes the time to come on down and low brow it with us hoodlums. :) I appreciate Ethan's involvement with the forum and his end line users. The character of a company means a lot to me.

Very good post, Where abouts are you located? I ask because we have these Becker Gatherings, and if you like knives, guns & Piracy then you'd be right at home.

I am in Colorado which is pretty far from either gathering. I would love to make it but alas I have a baby and a job so traveling 1000 miles to go camping is a challenge.

I first fell in love with someone else's BK2.

Then I got a BK11. Used it a bit, cord wrapped it, made scales for it, got the bug. Next came a 7, which is still my favorite larger knife overall (and I found that I much prefer the thinner stock on Beckers- the 2 feels good in the hand, the 7 and all of the other thinner knives are utter perfection for me), then I picked up a factory second BK14 from the Ka-Bar booth at the NRA show (from the hands of Toooj to mine- very nice guy BTW). Slapped some ESEE Izula micarta on it and put it in my pocket, where it stayed for several months (it's rare that I don't rotate knives, and that one kicked all of the others out for a while).

I also met Mr. Jerry Fisk at the Ka-Bar booth at another NRA show. Of course, he was touting the virtues of the 5... for good reason :) Also a very nice person, and fun to talk to. I wasn't in the market for a fixed blade at the time, though, so I didn't come home with any Becker factory seconds that year. The 5 is a good looking knife, I must admit...
