The 124 is a real crowd-pleaser.

I went car camping for the weekend and wore my 124 pretty much every hour of the day. Most of the people I met were intrigued (it's big and shiny) and the ones that wanted to take a closer look at it loved it.

I still have no need for such a large knife, but it sure is cool and certainly cuts stuff!

Everyone talks about the 124, like it is a massive beast, its only a 6” knife. Lol.
I took this one to elk camp and it got oohs and aahs, never got to use it, never took it again, just to heavy. It is impressive though.

Sure it's only 6ish inch blade, but it's overall a pretty chunky knife and certainly much larger than most people are accustomed to outside of the kitchen these days.

Edit to add: I'm just happy to use it! It seems to me that a lot of these end up as safe queens.

Basically I was looking at the small pouch for a sharpening stone on a Randall knife sheath. Then realized with the amount of real estate on a 124 sheath you could take the idea to the extreme.

I had a 110 sheath with the flat loop on the back so I mocked it up for a picture. I started a thread something like “wouldn’t this be cool?”

Makael Makael replied it sure would be cool, and that it would be a fun project. So I gave him the green light and he had it done so fast my son said, he had to of already had that made. No way he made it that fast.

Notice on the side picture the way he finished the edges brought out the natural color. Its really beautifully done. Mike is a true craftsman. Also notice it is relatively thin.

The original idea was for a survival kit, but I’ve only ever carried it with a 110. Kind of cool it acts like a drop down sheath for the 110 and gets it below a winter coat. I always hated leaving my 110 at home when I carried a belt knife.

To carry a survival kit I’d have to find a suitable container that fit the sheath.

Lee D Lee D Its really not heavy, and is a joy to carry. C473F3A3-C020-4428-AC0A-15FE0631885D.jpeg992229E7-2CCC-4091-92DA-61D032A4B757.jpeg

does anyone have a picture of all sheaths that were available for the 124 throughout its history? is this already posted elsewhere on BF?

I don’t think there was much of a change to the leather sheath. All mine are the same. The NEMO had the plastic.
