The 2008 W&SS Year in Review Thread

I have to say there is a great group of people here. I seem to spend more time here than anywhere else in BF. One of my favorite threads for 08 was the Knives Stuck in Trees post. It seems damn near everyone with a blade feels compelled to stick it in a fallen log. You guys must be the same ones poking the fresh hamburger in the grocery store:D

That second sentence didn't sound quite right but in the interest of keeping things clean, I'll leave it alone. :D

See what I mean? Guys like Brian always bring out the best in members here:D:D Man, I love this place...if I'm not sharing or learning, than I'm definatly ROTFLMAO:thumbup:

My understanding is that Brian only pokes the lean hamburgers and leaves the regular hamburger to us geeks :D

I'm not sure who pokes the ground turkey though....

Onya Brian and team - you've definetly made this a better place and it's now part of my morning ritual to make a cofee and sit and read WSS.

The last 12 months haven't been that great for me physically and I haven't been able to get out as much as I'd like - so visiting here and getting my bush time vicariously has been a great part of the healing process.

Yeah, I hear that poking hamburger is hard on cell phones.
Brian, can you turn the rain off please? Its been raining nonstop in Marion since I got here.
Thanks again for making us feel at home here!!!

Hey you're right in Marion? How long?

You guys are all welcome here and I am glad and honored to know each of you. Hope all of us get to meet in person one day.

Only for the night. Just had to say hi while I had the chance. Time for sleep now.

I think that would be J Williams.

He's not real fond of sticking his knives in trees or logs anymore. He's been partial to cinder blocks and old, rusty, shot to hell Ford F-150 hoods lately.

Then again, he might be poking canned hams and squeezing rock hard frozen turkeys to see if their fresh. :D

OMG! This is a classic....I might have to add it to my sig line! hahahahaha

2008 was a mixed year.
+ joined this forum, absolutely a nice place to live.
- job was too busy that I couldn't go out and become quite weak.

I hope I can go out more in 2009 and can post some interesting pics, or start making knives again.

Man. What a year! I have gotten- well, wherever I am now. SO MUCH of that has been directly due to WSS members- personal visits, reviews, advice, orders and USE. The use and abuse yall put knives to has given me a really big boost and sense of accomplishment when my knives stand up to the same performance standards.

Mt family is doing amazing things, from nursing school to bb gun shooting and archery (big deal when you are 5).

Actually, I'm pretty much "speechless". This has to have been one of the greatest single year periods for me in my life.

Christof,

Awesome, and glad the forum helped you achieve your dream. Gotta get my hands on one of your blades someday!

The highlights of the year for me were becoming more active on this forum, and picking up a lot of knowledge from the much more experienced members who hang out here. I`ve made a lot of friends here, 99% of the guys are great, we all know who the other 1% is. I bought my Knifemakers membership this year, and have enjoyed the posts from my customers, and actually seeing something I`ve wanted to do for a long time come to be a reality, mostly due to the members here. I live vicariously through your adventures, and especially enjoy seeing pictures of your kits, hopefully mine will be as well equipped as some of yours someday. All in all, it`s been a wonderfull time hanging out here, great people, and great moderators!

This has been my first year on BF and so far it has been a really great one. I haven't been able to post as much as I would like to what with building a new house and running the school but I hope that can change in the coming year. As of thursday of this week we will have satellite internet instead of that crappy dial-up so I will be able to do a lot more. Also Aggie and I moved into the new house on monday and now I hope to have more time.
I would like to add that it has been great meeting a lot of you in person and am looking forward to meeting a lot more in the near future.
If I could have one wish it would be that more of you would come out to our events. It is much better in person.

I am gonna attend next year Marty. Glad you got moved in and are doing well, and I look forward to making the trip out.

Jake,

Thanks for the Xmas card! Looking forward to sharing a campfire with you too sometime soon!
