P.,
the rules say you can't open the package...but a sensitive touch on the envelope should be allowed, and it could open you a world of fantasy and guesses, provided your touch is good enough... :p

I'm as anxious as anyone.

Now that's weird...you should know what's inside of the package :D

Ah, Fausto, the package in question is not an envelope, but a box-- far trickier.

Even so, given my astute powers of observation and discernment, I believe I've narrowed it down.

I could be wrong, of course, but I'm fairly sure it's

a knife.

I'll go out on a limb here, and further opine that it's a traditional knife.

Two more days!

Way more fun than the average giveaway!!
It's already a Merry Christmas!!!

Leave it to Sarah to make a give-away even more fun..

P.,
I will dare even more...and say it's a traditional knife made in the US
Thank you for making this part of the giveaway just as fun as the giveaway itself :)

Well, yes I do know what is in the package. :D

But, I am interested in seeing what P. thinks of it. I won't know until she has a chance to open it.

Also, squeezing the package isn't going to help her I don't believe.

I KNOW, RIGHT?

Oddly enough, neither has flinging it into trees,

floating it down the creek,

or backing over it with the van.

Still a mystery.

One more day!

The packaging may have failed the water dunking test. Did it quit ticking?

I may need to think about upgrading my packaging.

I think you're good then; I don't think running over it with the car will hurt it.

Okay, here we go:

Peel back the somewhat battered corner of Ed's most excellently packed box, which somehow had gotten a little wet, to reveal the measures taken to make the shipment safe. Also unsqueezeable.

Really, this was a masterwork:

It opens like a treasure box to reveal, well, treasure:

At this point I had No Idea what this might be. However, the size of the box was very promising-- something on the smaller side, which suits me well.

This was even more exciting--

-- Something small made with wood, probably my favorite cover material.

A pattern entirely new to me, sporting clean yet jaunty lines: A Gerber Silver Knight.

(Also featuring the shiniest blades I've yet seen, which wreaks bugaboo on photography attempts.)

(for Jack. ;))

A very interesting silhouette with the small blade open:

My conclusion: Wow!

I was hoping the knife would somehow be different from those I already have, but boy howdy did I not know to even guess at something like this. I've never even seen pictures of this one before. A great surprise!

I love its size and angles, the wood (walnut?), how the blades fit into the handle, and how visually interesting it is both closed and with each of the blades open.

TLARbb, thanks so much!

Very fun giveaway!!! I still don't know how you pulled off the water submersion and van back-over trick. You had me laughing harder with each pic. Thanks Sarah and Tlarrbb!!
