Sounds like your family has a lot of fun on Christmas Eve, Merry Christmas! I would like to participate. OH

Thank you Ed, and a Merry Christmas to you too.

My father started something like this many years ago, he hid a gift at my grandmother's house, and after Midnight services on Christmas Eve, he told me that "Santa" had left something at grandma's. Being about 17 at the time I wondered what he was up to. Pretty much the whole family was in the choir, so we always went back to grandma's after church. He disappeared into the back of the house and came back with a huge wrapped circle that could be nothing but a cymbal. Since Dad hadn't been too keen on my rock-n-roll escapades I was floored. Sure enough, a Paiste 24" ride cymbal was wrapped up, which I still play to this day. After that, there was always something for me and Mom at grandma's after church on Christmas Eve.

Thank you for reminding me of this memory with your tradition. Dad will be gone 20 years this January, and I lost Mom last month to cancer so it will be a tough Holiday this year. While I'm not in choir in my new church, I am lectoring on Christmas Eve, and afterwards we'll stop over my mother-in-law's house. Not the same, but a new tradition instead.

This is not an entry, Ed, as I have far too many knives already.

Having been away for several months, it is nice to return and see the community spirit I so enjoyed about being here.

"Where would we be without our Tradition(al)s??" *

Not an entry, but avidly read and enjoyed!! Nice going Ed!!

What fun last year, Ed and Sarah!!

A nice tradition Ed. A traditional Christmas tradition for a traditional knife gift. Please count me in.

I'd love to be in on this one but for the life of me I can't remember if I made the two posts in the last 12 days (I was on vacation most of those days). I know I left some feedback and looked at some threads but don't know that I posted.

Oh, well.

Thanks for doing this again, TLARbb. Very generous of you and always something to look forward to.

alas, confirmed, I don not have the requisite posts so - Not an entry.

What a cool and fun tradition, please count me in.

Thanks,
Glenn

That's a very cool and unique tradition. I'm sure it keeps everyone close. My family always secretly exchanges names on Thanksgiving and gives the gifts on Christmas Eve.

I would like to enter, thank you and merry Christmas.

Not an entry to this generous give a way, but I wanted to say that I am very familiar with the "Christmas Eve Gift" tradition. We did just as you described. The all time champ was my Mother, she was hard to beat and more often than not won the Christmas Eve gift. I haven't thought about it in many moons. Thanks for the memory.

Ladies and Gents, this has to remain non-religious or it will have to be shut down. We have members of many faiths as well as some who are offended by mention of any faith.

Family traditions are cool. Well wishes are excellent.

I am offended by those who are offended by "mention of any faith".

I'd love to join all of you in this tradition.
And thank you, Ed, for bringing the spirit of Christmas to this forum.
