The 2023 Garden, Landscape, and Other Stuff Thread……

That one's covered in parasitic wasp eggs, so when they hatch that one will be done, and they'll look for others to do the same thing to.
I have noticed wasps searching the gravel around the garden beds in the early mornings lately, maybe hunting them? I did not see any wasps early in the summer, only bees. I guess I’ll have to start looking for horn worms earlier next year, before they totally consume my tomato plants like they have the last few weeks.

If you know anyone with chickens, bring them the caterpillars and watch them go nuts

Hey pat9198 pat9198 , it's interesting to hear about your garden experiences! It seems like nature is at work in your garden with the parasitic wasps taking care of the hornworms. Observing wasps hunting around your garden is a good sign that they're helping with pest control.

Yes it is a good sign! Unfortunately those horn worms cause a lot of damage before the wasps take them out. It happens every year. I can go out at night with a black light flashlight and pick them off and that usually works pretty good at prolonging the death of my tomato plants. I do find it all very interesting.

My next to the last of the pineapples for this season. Always very sweet when you let them go golden on the plant.

Oh boy, I can taste the pineapple upside down cake just looking at this pic !

Thank you all for letting me share your gardening this past year. Since I moved and no longer have such a thing I have to visit the gardens that are public. They have been pretty nice, and they give me ideas on what I'd like to do, but since my current "yard" is only slightly bigger than my kitchen table I'm pretty limited.
