I for one would surely buy another 710 if BM released it with M390, M4 or even just S30V...
ETA: With the recurve on the blade, yes, it makes it slightly harder to sharpen, but IMO it's an important part of the design.

nice collection Corey! if you want to sell one of your 710-801 (CPM-M4) please let me know or know of someone that would sell one .. Tomas

I'm really digging those 710-801's. The OD green and black is slick.

Posted this in another thread but thought it was appropriate here as well.

Picked this up last weekend, NOS setting on the shelf... couldn't leave it behind :)

Don't blame you one bit. I would have snapped that up in a heart-beat! That's a nice one. Really wish Benchmade would bring these back. I guess they're making a killing off the Bugout series, but these were the best they made, IMO.

Can anyone estimate the year it was made?

Hard to say for sure but I would guess early-mid 2010s. It's later production but I don't think it's the last run.

For reference, here's from top down:

1) 710-1401 (dyed darker blue). I believe this is an earlier version, because it came in the old style slide-out box and it has the old taller, more script-style McHenry & Williams logo. I think that would put it around 2014.
2) 710-3. Newer, more compact logo, numbered patent, old style slide-out box. But, this was a 2013 release, so seems there's some overlap in the logo style?
3) 710-1401. I believe this is a later version, given the compact logo, and that it came in the newer lift-top box (these started...2015? I think?)
4) 710D2. This one I picked up after the discontinuation announcement at the end of 2016, and you'll note it has the compact logo, but also the Benchmade.com/pat patent marking rather than the numbered patent.

I believe your 710 logo matches #2 and #3 here. Also, looking at a 710DLC-1 and pictures of a 710-2 I used to own and foolishly sold, the 710DLC-1 has the old, taller logo and the 710-2 had the newer, more compact one (both numbered patents).

It's possible the changes to the 710D2 markings didn't exactly follow the LEs, but assuming they did, I would guess that knife was no older than 2011 (change from tall to compact logo from DLC-1 to -2). The problem with the patent number vs the .com/pat marking is that I believe that was a 2016 change, same as the last year of production. So it's hard to say anything there other than obviously no later than 2016 and not from one of the last run(s) with the website patent.

If you have the original box that would also help, just knowing slide-out vs lift-top, even though the 710 was discontinued before they uniformly put individual birthdates on them.

Unfortunately the original box was gone. Anyway thank you for that analysis :)

Who still has or makes 710 scales other than the Russian guy? Preferably in the USA so that hiccups of the custom or delay in shipping can be avoided.
