Sorry about the Post and run, I need to get some rest.:)

Did anybody else see this show?

And was it funny or a joke to you too?

'Alaska Expermint' / Discovery. Tuesday, April 22 "Alaska Experiment" (10 p.m., Discovery) New series:

The Alaska Experiment

"Alaska Experiment" (10 p.m., Discovery)
New series: Seemingly inspired by the success of the film "Into the Wild," Discovery takes the concept and makes a seven-episode documentary series out of it. Premiering as part of Alaska Week, the series ships four teams off to remote wilderness locations and asks them to survive for three months with only a simple trapper's cabin (what, no school bus?), a few guns and a minimal amount of food. Meanwhile, because this is Discovery and not MTV, participants' bodies and psyches will be scientifically evaluated to learn how the struggle against nature really affects us.

Just made me feel sorry for the dad with the two daughters. "Ration" didn't appear to be in their vocabulary. Looks to be an interesting reality show following in the vein of "Into The Wild". Fun to watch at the least.

I just finished watching it. It looks like an interesting show especially to see how the people get wise as to how easy they usually have it. The two daughters already ate a bunch of their 3 month supply of food. Its not going to be the best show but it will be a descent watch.

Of course they have off camera survival experts telling them what to do, no darwanism here.

Thanks for the heads up. It airs on the west coast in 45 minutes. Here is the thread from several months ago when they were casting for this show.

Those girls looked fat enough, I think he needs to adjust their attitude also. If my kids ever talked to me like that I would slap the taste out of their mouths.

This is intentional. The show would be boring and unsatisfying if the viewers couldn't say: "Look at these fools! I am so much smarter/more controlled/better prepared/constitutionally superior!" That's how it made network TV.

Looks like its going to be a good show.

Most of them are wayyyyy out of thier element.
Also, whats up with being in that part of the world and not having 1 firearm? Crazy.

Those 2 fat bitches were mowing through all of the food, eating the potatos raw, on the first day. That should end well.

And the one woman, already complaning about how the boots were arranged under the table.

In the time she complained, "Dick" Pronekie could have planted a garden, raised 3 lots of beef, and made door hinges from the inards of a fish he caught.

This show reminds me of back in the day when the first Survivor show first aired.

First thought was cool, I can't wait to see it.

Then I watch it and think that this Survivor show has very little to do with survival and more to do with Office Politics.

And as with the first Survivor show and getting sucked in to see how this all turns out, Now I can see myself doing the same with this show.

LOL For a post and run to get some sleep.
I can see I didn't sleep very long.:D

Ether I'm worried about the Bears that were on the show.:D

Or worried about the Bear that raided my place two fridays ago and got in the back of my pick up truck bed.:D
Good thing it's a 1 Ton, so it can handle a lot of Bear.:D

Also, does it matter which way your Boots point when you put them down in a cabin as a survival skill and should they point North?:D

Can you help me here Brian and did you see this too?

Been taping the show, but haven't seen more then the two girls chowing on raw tatters.... hope to watch it tonight if the kids/wife let go of the remote long enough.. :)

It should be interesting....

I ran into it last might. I started to watch, and could not get past the girl crying, and whining after having to walk for 6 miles.

I DVR it however and will try again.

I had a problem with watching those parts of the show too.

It wasn't till I saw the Humor in the stupid stuff, it got easier to watch.:D

From experience I can say that that was reality (didnt see it on the show, but have experienced it a number of times with hiking partners). First hike I did with my wife, she was about done in after about 3 miles with a pack. It wasnt the pace, it wasnt the terrain, it was simply lack of experience and what to expect.

Now I GOTTA watch the show.

I met the two people that started in the kayaks at the OR show last summer, though I can't remember their names. We chatted for a few minutes about their upcoming adventure and how I was a bit jealous of the experience.

I was wondering why some had gigantic packs, and some had small ones. I expected some of them to have more gear I guess. As for guns, that was one of the first things I thought about when they started hyping all the bears in the area. Presumably the guides/experts are suitably armed. It was fun to finally see the show last night, but damn, that 10 pm timeslot is too late for me. Apparently I need a DVR.

They have guns. They are part of the supplies left for them at their shelters. Next week, one of the whiny fat beastlets goes moose hunting.

I watched it for about 5 minutes.I shut it off when the wife was complaining about the boot arangement.

Yes, its true...they do have guns. I saw next weeks preview where someone shoots some game and they have to butcher it. As for the couple that came in on Kayaks, I wonder how or why they drew a canvas wall tent and all the other groups got log cabins? With their close proximity to the shoreline, I would see them more prone to bear encounters, and would have thought that was the most dangerous location, thus requiring a cabin there, vs some locale high up in the mountains...

I was saddened by the dad's inability to catch salmon when they are so abundant there that time of year, and was amazed that after he managed to hook one, had to release it after it came entangled? I didnt see the water that deep where he was fishing, and cant understand why he didnt just follow the line in and retrieve the fish from where it was hung up? I guess he has no sense of urgency to stock up on food at this point. I guess that will change soon at the rate his two daughters are consuming it.

Overall, I think the location and the scenery make the show, because the participants are not exciting to watch at all. pitiful, actually.
