OK, I heard the guy has had a run of bad luck (maybe). I ordered a knife from him back in May for $55.00 a small necker. It was to be my FIRST CUSTOM.

He told me he was taking a trip and it wound be a week till he started, cool. Some time passed (a month ) He finally responded to an email and said he broke his hand...and so the wait continued...he stopped responding to my messages..very little activity on the forum. I contacted some others on the forum, that have knives pending and have not received them. At least two other people.

In the process of checking his messages left by others, someone said he lost his job or was down and out. If thats true, I feel bad and don't want to kick a guy when he is down. But an email saying I'm sorry, things are tough right now, I'll make good by you as soon as I get on my feet, would be nice. Instead he has disappeared with my $55.00 bucks with as far as I know, no plans on paying me back.

I know there are others out there that he shafted. Unfortunately for me Pay Pall will not refund the money.

If he ever resurfaces, watch out. And If he ever makes good on the promised knife to me, I'll let you know, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's amazing what kind of excuses pop up in these situations. It's always a lost job, cancer, dead relatives, injuries that make it impossible to work, etc, etc, etc. I feel like it's only a matter of time until someone fakes their own death to keep a scam going.

Too late. It's been done. Really. I forget the name but some scammer's "mother" once came here to post that he had killed himself...

I remember a story on one of the forums where a person scammed someone and then had someone post that he had lost both his arms in a car crash.

Then about two weeks later posted a you tube video showing off his new tats covering both his arms.

Idiots.......................................

Never ever pay for something in full up front before it is completed. Or at least I won't.

I got burned too. I paid for one of his customs back in April and have had no word whatsoever. The knife was supposed to be a present for my wife on her first Mother's Day, her first custom knife. Being down on your luck is one thing but even a guy with two broken hands and no job can dictate an explanation to a friend typing on a library computer.
The worst part is, his last activity was late last month and he still refuses to offer even the weakest explanation.

Get his IP address from Spark, then you can at least contact his ISP and tell them he is using the connection to commit fraud. Hopefully they will shut his account down, or at least make him jump through some hoops. Spark can also see if he is still connecting to BF.com, just using a new account - which I would guess he is.

Just so he'd know this thread is going, I linked it in his Visitor Messages.

To the OP; If you paid through PayPal using a credit card, try contacting your credit card company. Although too much time may have elapsed, they can be your best chance in situations like this.

Good Luck,
Peter

Well, duh, I guess you're right. My bad, I hadn't seen one of the amazingdrew's posts and when the above poster split the "handle" I thought he might be using "amazing" in a sarcastic manner. Thanks for clearing it up.

Thanks Gatogordo for clearing which Drew up for me. Yes it is in fact theamazingdrew aka Andrew Parks.

Yes I know. It sucks, Because before I sent him money, I checked him out. Seemed like he had been around for awhile, good feedback and all. But like you said not so much as an explanation.

Thanks, might just do that.

Cool thanks. Not that this guy is going to care, but hopefully no one else will get burnned.

It all sounds shoddy. Why can't he simply refund the OP's cash?

Yeah I like that idea.

Thanks for the comments and advice, the sad thing is I know he burned more people than me and Blais.
Oh well, I was so excited about my first custom...I guess I should stick with production knives...at least I receive them. No offense to you reputable custom knife makers out there.

I know it's been a few months but has anyone heard from him? I noticed that he was logged in the middle of Nov.

Nope, no word from him, nor do I expect too. It would make a wonderful Christmas present, to finally get the knife I PAID FOR !
I also, noticed recent activity, as recent as Dec 8th.

Drew if your out there....make good...you got your money....get us our knives...you know what they say about Karma.

You'd think that if he lost his job, he want to be making more knives. Knives tend to equal money for knife makers.

But then again, pretending to make knives seems to make just as much money.
