The Amazing Umfaan...

Joey, I can see what you mean.It is very similar and I like it.Thanks for pointing it out.
Before anybody jumps on me I do own a lot of CRK's including an Umfaan and feel they are the best knives you can buy but this does not stop me looking at other makes. :D

Thanks Adi, I too own knives produced by both makers. Unfortunately, my tone may have been misconstrued for complete and utter disdain for CR knives. However, that is not the case. I opine that both manufacturers are the best in the business and I can safely assume that that is the general consensus. It seems as though there are certain individuals on this forum who are incapable of accepting others' opinions. So once again tallpaul(or as the ladies call you, shortpaul), I would appreciate it if you would refrain from speaking about me. Good day all!

No...there are "certain individuals" on this forum who are incapable of accepting people who state their opinion as fact.

Wow I am devestated and must be mistaken.... I am sooo sorry
I could have sworn you graduated college from reading some of your posts where you claimed to have done so, but with such a mature and well thought out retort as "or as the ladies call you, shortpaul" I can see the membership to menza has really paid off for you... and your post has not been misconstrued- your command of the engish language was pretty clear - it is just a shame that you were quoted to where you can't go back and edit to suit. :p the issue is not of a difference of opinion but the lack of respect- if you would have left just a few adjetives off your initial post you would have been fine- that is where the problem lies - you seem to add just enough adjetives to be "interesting" maybe you can study up on it and figure it out....
BTW God Bless-paul

Hey Paul, you must be a borderline genius!!!! You managed to mispell the word ADJECTIVES twice in the same posting. I suppose that my college education has really paid off. I am now capable of editing the posts of an idiot named Paul. Amazing huh?

I had to do something so you could put that education to use... apparently you know what they are and the proper use of ADJECTIVES now learn to not come to a mans house and use negative ones relating his stuff to anothers based on subjective opinions as you have with winning ADJECTIVES and phrases as "overpriced knife" and "This seems to be one sturdy and classy little knife. Even more so than the hard-to-get and overpriced Umfaan" and this statement does not even state that you have actually handled the WH in person . I am so proud that you can call me names - more great uses of adjectives- your parents must be proud :p
You can call me tiny if it makes ya feel better, I am only 6'5 270 lbs and wear size 14 shoes and I spell bad ;)

Please Tall Paul STOP... You are really intimidating me with your menacing self description. Believe me you jackass, your opinions are as insignificant as your life's accompishments. I can't believe I am lowering myself to your level. But it is my life's calling to keep imbeciles in check. So you see, I am just doing you a favor.

well if thats the case then do US ALL the favor and go stand in front of a mirror - then you will have your lifes work ahead of you and you will be out of our hair....

now there were some more GREAT adjectives coming from you yet again. Please show us more of the great qualities you posses... american colleges at work yet again or just great DNA ?

menancing desription? I said I spell bad - I NEVER disclosed that I smell bad too

While William Henry are nice and well made knives, I have never seen one that was as built as a CRK, I would worry about the strength of the clips on a EDC hard user but I never would on a CRK, just IMO.

I agree.I have a bone Kestrel and the lock seems nowhere near as good as the Umfaan.I always get the impression it would bend under a lot of strain.I wish the would bring the Umfaan back.It is my favourite knife of al time! :D

Joey, your first post to this thread was offensive and your following posts are worse yet. Back off, or you'll be gone.

Please take it easy, guys. Healthy discussion is good - personal attacks are not.

I do wish I had some update for you on the Umfaan. The project is not abandoned but there is nothing in the immediate future. As and when we do re-introduce the Umfaan, it will not simply be the same knife brought back again so enjoy those that are in the market now - they really are quite collectible.

i am still kicking myself for passing up a good deal on a Spear-through-the-grass umfaan a while back. but DAMN i was broke! glad i have mt Chevron umfaan. i carry it in my pocket pretty much every day and i LLLLLOVE it!!

I'd like to have an Umfaan, but I still need to buy some more Sebenzas first.
It's the best fit on a knife I've seen.
Quality is a well known characteristic of CRK, and an important part of the purchase price.
Keep up the great work. ;)

Hey TallPaul, that was really cute and clever. I'm sure that little tirade of yours required a great deal of thought. Don't get too defensive about your affinity for the little umfaan. I was only making a viable suggestion for an alternative to a difficult to obtain piece. That's all
I think you need to remember what forum you are in. When you speak negatively about a particular knife in the manufacturers own forum you are asking for trouble, especially from CRK fans. You are intitled to your opinion, of course, but there is no need to be obnoxious. I'm thinking tallpaul was trying to convey that you don't come into CRK's house and crap all over them and there products. It is unfair to them and to the people who frequent this forum. While discussion of certain aspects of the Umfaan is fine and helps CRK in development of new knives it is not cool to start a flame war. If you wanna make comparisons to other knives do so in the Blade Discussion Forum.

And you should know, you have some beautiful examples in your display cases of both brands.

Slightly OT, thank you for the hospitality you showed me and my family on the 12th, (My mom had the oxygen tank and I bought my wife the harmonica, to spark your memory... :) ) we all enjoyed our visit.

I have only had the pleasure of handling one Umfaan, but, it wasn't for sale or I would own it. Really solid for such a small knife, I would trust it to handle tasks beyond what it's size would seem to suggest...

But.........it needed a clip. :p

I remember :), Remember you walking out with a Sebenza also and I did my best to sneak the one you had out of your pocket :P maybe next time.
