Have some time on my hands to here are a few "Persians" or Persian-like knives from my collection.

They're all Spydies . . .

First, a pair of Schempp Persians:

Next, a pair of extra large C146 Szabo Folders:

And lastly a group of Persian or Persian-like Spydie folders:

From top to bottom they are the :

1) Farid K2
2) Vogt Tropen
3) Keating Chinook 4
4) Liao Hundered Pacer
5) Brend/Pirela Mamba
6) Tighe Stick

Owned a few earlier Chinooks in the past but sold them off because I didn't care enough about the line to collect them all. Just kept the Chinook 4. Have also considered buying a CKF Persian a couple of times but never liked 'em enough for the price to buy one yet either. 🤷‍♂️

That's all folks!!! ;)

PS: I just bought an MT Brachial from ACK. No need to post a pic of it. One is already posted above. :)

PPS: Also looking at couple of CKF Persians on ACK that I'm considering buying, as well, simply because I'm focusing on that topic now. 🤷‍♂️

All "Persian" blade shapes are trailing points, but not all trailing points are Persian.

Can you elaborate on this? Or point to where you found the information? Thank you.

FWIW, here's what Chat GPT has to say about it:

🔪 Persian Blade

Shape

  • Strong upward curve along the entire edge
  • Tip sits high above the centerline of the handle
  • Often has a dramatic, sweeping profile

Characteristics

  • Excellent slicing ability due to continuous belly
  • Tip is fine and precise
  • Looks aggressive and elegant

Best For

  • Skinning
  • Draw cuts
  • Fighting-style knives
  • General slicing tasks

Origin

Inspired by traditional Middle Eastern daggers like the Persian shamshir-style blades.

🔪 Trailing Point Blade

Shape

  • Edge curves upward toward the tip
  • Tip “trails” above the spine
  • Large belly for slicing

Characteristics

  • Superior slicing performance
  • Long cutting surface
  • Tip is thinner and more delicate

Best For

  • Skinning game
  • Fillet knives
  • Precision slicing

🆚 Key Differences

FeaturePersianTrailing Point
Curve StyleDramatic continuous upward sweepGradual upward curve
Tip HeightMuch higher than handle centerlineSlightly elevated
Overall LookExotic, aggressivePractical, hunting-focused
Typical UseTactical / ornamental / slicingHunting / skinning / slicing

🧠 Simple Way to Tell Them Apart

  • If it looks dramatically swept upward and exotic, it's probably Persian.
  • If it looks like a classic hunting knife with a big belly, it's trailing point.
