It's irrelevant how many of whichever blade shape historically came out of Persia. In blade shape parlance, and within the knife community, "Persian" is a known and accepted shape. I didn't decide that, it's just the way it is.

That's what I was asking for where you found that information or hiw you arrived at that.

But forget it. I don't care enough anymore to try to get you to post a link. You could have just said you don't know or thats just what you've always heard.

There are as many examples, if not more, of those kard style blades historically linked with Persia as there are upswept blade styles.

Who decides what the definition of "Persian blade style" is? That's what I was hoping someone could point to. And the answer isn't "google" or "ai".

Common parlance just sort of happens. Someone says it and it catches on, so many are saying it the same way. I don't believe an expert came along and declared "this shall forever be be known as a Persian Blade Shape!" I'd rather suspect experts cringe every time they see it used this way.

The origin of these beautiful blades is apparently "Persian" but, for the purposes of this discussion, "Persian" and "Trailing Point" refer to the blade shape & not necessarily its origin.

All very nice but what is the bottom one and are those actual gems in the handle?

That's a collaboration between Keith Kilby, Master Smith who did the blade, and Zaza Revishvili who did all the rest. I think they're garnets, going from memory.

I kept it for several years and then gifted it to my nephew on a special occasion.

It is a stock removal version of what might usually be forged. Starting with a thick piece of 1084 steel, stabilized box elder handle parts with bronze pins, and a mild steel ball.
